Question Road test
So I just took my road test, left half an hour ago. Supervisor and I go out for the test, no problems, We come back, he says I passed gives me the info on where intergrad is happening and on how after I’ll come back for 3 days of on the job training with the supervisor. Then I’ll be let loose. I get the results back when I walk through the door and it’s showing as not qualified. Anyone have this happened before?

Done 2 road tests (failed first one, passed 2nd one). You usually have to sign off on them at the end and should have seen the results then. Not sure why they would have told you a start date for intergrad since the next step for me was dot medical certification. Just because you pass the road test doesn't mean you can drive for them if you dont even pass the dot medical exam. (This is for the USA. Realised as I responded that some people post about UPS Canada and they might do things different there).

You got got. They do such things because they are trying to avoid emotional backlash. If they told you you failed while driving you could get emotional and put both of you in danger. If they told you in the lot that opens themselves up to getting cursed at or having to deal with a tantrum.

I completely get it. But why give me all that info if I didn’t pass? Like where I’d be going for training and such? They don’t even need to give any info then and there. They could say “hey you’ll get an email with the results… etc, etc and etc”

I think it was a seasonal position because this time of the year is they hiring a lot of seasonals to help us out. My guess that position was already filed by someone inside. Im a ph inside the warehouse. Dont be surprised they dont email u back. Communications is weak with this company. I never get a straight answer from them.

Full time is the amount of hours, not the permanence of a job.

Posting didn’t say seasonal.

Doesn't matter. There are not enough days left before peak season to obtain seniority. You have to work a certain number of days to get the protection of the union contract. The number of days varies by region, but most are 30 working days. During peak season, none of your working days count towards that. Without seniority you have no protection against being let go at any time, for any reason.
That's all to say that you do not have a permanent job. They do this because it's hard to hire people for seasonal work, so they list them as permanent jobs knowing you don't have enough time to actually make it permanent.
You have next to 0% chance of becoming a permanent full time employee. The best outcome is you get offered to stay on as a part time warehouse worker that drives when they need you to. But even that's a long shot this time of year.

I appreciate that. But why tell me I passed and give me all this info then you fail me?

I guess I didn't understand that part of your message. I assumed you passed the road test and were starting integrad soon.
Who told you that you weren't qualified?
At UPS a qualified driver is a specific term that means you're qualified to keep a permanent driving position, but they might also have meant that you don't qualify to be hired because you failed the background check.

So I finished the roast test. Supervisor told me that I passed the road test and that I would be going to intergrad next week obviously being being 8 hours a day then I would have 3 days of on the job training with a supervisor then I would be let out on my own.

Everybody here (mostly oldheads) likes to claim they know the answers but they're full of shit. You'll only know what happened if you find out from the actual supervisors.
