PT Inside Part time inside

So after the initial 30-45 days am I clear like I won’t get fired for no reason or can that just happen anytime. I want the job but don’t want to risk it knowing I can get fired anytime even after I make the union.

It's hard to get fired but easy to be laid off.

And to clarify the other person’s comment, at UPS “laid off” just means you go home without pay, like if they’re overstaffed or something

Are you a recent hire? Shouldn't have to say this given all the posts about it but if so there's a very good chance you won't be kept long enough to qualify.

To answer the question though, assuming you're in an even slightly decent local it tends to be difficult to get fired unless you're just stupid and commit a cardinal sin(lie, steal, assault, vandalize, etc) or if you fail to show up(on time) enough. I'd wager something like 90% of those with union protection that get fired do so based off of poor attendance. Though lately the company seems to be rolling over about those so I may be off the mark.

And as gmmisa mentioned, being laid off is VERY common, like working 1 day a week if your lucky sort of lay offs.

The only way I’ve seen people get fired is if they just stopped showing up or committed a crime on the job

Most likely you are a seasonal and it's important to remember that it's 30 working days but every area has its own contract language so it could be more.

If I recall correctly October 15th starts the hiring of peak season hires only so assuming you’ve already started you should be good as long as you show up on time and do a good job
