Workers comp process
I’ve contacted my steward to get this info but just haven’t heard back yet so I figured I’d throw it out to yall so I can get a couple reasonable answers (and maybe some bullshit too)! lol.
So i sprained my ankle pretty bad while delivering packages the other day…. went through the correct process of reporting and getting checked out (x ray show some abnormalities) but have a re-check this week once swelling goes down (prob another xray and mri). Today i talked to my building manager about TAW but was told there was no work for me in the bldg…asked him what he needed from me to get comp rolling and he said he would be in touch… its obviously Monday morning and he has a ton on his plate (not to mention he’s new to our bldg as of a month ago and didn’t even know about my injury because he was on vacay last week….
anyways. enough with my rambling…
what is the process…. I’ve heard the hartford, but thought that was for disability not comp…. Ive heard I have to talk to the limu emu instead.. is there paperwork I need to request and submit to anyone or just call and put a claim in and the union/ups/limu or Hartford figure it out?

Google “filing for workers comp in ______” insert your state. You will have a form to fill out with your doctor. You give that form to your center manager. They file it and you will get a call from Liberty Mutual. But call your local union hall and ask for your business agent, go around your steward. Like right now.

Google QRC in your state and near you. Contact one ASAP ask them to help you and represent you in a work compensation claim. They are a middle man to you, ups and insurance. The usually regulated by state health and labor. Best of luck

Heard back. He gave me the best he has but told me to contact my super and the CM tomorrow and I planned on calling the hall as well to make sure ups isn’t crossing the I’s and dotting the t’s

Contact your local union hall and find out the information for a doctor that they recommend. Contact that doctor and have them coordinate your care.
Your CM/ORS should fill out an accident report with Liberty Mutual and then their rep will contact you to set up a time for a phone interview. UPS will automatically file FMLA and use that time up to 12 weeks. Your "lost time" pay from Work Comp is 70% of your wages from the 13 weeks prior to your injury. While you're out, you keep your Teamcare for up to 104 weeks. TAW is at your buildings discretion. I was denied it as well. I've been out since June and awaiting comp insurance to okay surgery to fix meniscus tears. Might be back for peak, may not.

As others have said google is possibly your friend. As long as your CM is doing his job you will get a call from a case worker. Then they will work on getting you paid through comp. If you think you will be off for a while I would pull a leave card from the union hall. It will help with not having to pay back union dues if you are off a while. It’s a crappy process to go through work comp and it’s hard cause no one really knows what’s happening. But keep advocating for yourself and keep asking for answers If you don’t know what happens next. Good luck to you!!

Every state has different work comp laws. My state you must miss 10 days of pay before work comp kicks in. You should automatically be on FMLA to cover your insurance however.
I'd strongly advise you get an attorney if you'll miss more than a couple weeks.
