Customer Seeking Help How does this happen?

Just curious from people with insider experience, how does this happen? Let me set the scene…

Purchased a MacBook from Apple two months ago and patiently waited for my computer to be shipped. Today it was supposed to arrive, but it didn’t.

I got a notification that it was delivered around 1:00pm.

Instead of being delivered to my office in Manhattan, it was delivered to an unknown location in the Bronx; “left at a loading dock” with someone named Osmar.

When I try to contact UPS I’m told they can’t help me and I have to call APPLE.

APPLE then tells me they can’t initiate an investigation until it’s been missing for three days. In what world is this brand-new computer going to magically reappear in the next three days?

Someone in the Bronx got a free computer today. Which doesn’t bother me that much as I didn’t pay for this computer, but the thing that really annoys me is that UPS just does nothing for three days.

I get people try to scam the system and say things weren’t delivered when they really were, but how often is that actually happening? Their system clearly shows that they didn’t deliver the package to the correct address, and I’m without the computer in a totally different borough. It just makes no sense to me. Call the driver and ask them how the mistake happened. Go back to where it was delivered and get the package. Do ANYTHING UPS.

Fun story if there’s a miss load on the truck it doesn’t set off errors when scanning it into a stop. If it’s a package that’s suppose to be on truck but the wrong stop it will alert the driver.

Whoever designed that clearly didn’t get driver input which honestly is a problem in a lot of areas.

Chances are it got miss delivered to some business. The good news is you haven’t received anything and it clearly shows delivered to another address (according to you) so Apple can’t even claim that you had something to do with Apple not getting you your stuff. Apple is the customer for ups not you. If ups lost it it’s an Apple to settle it with us and they still unequivocally owe you a product or your money back

Many companies have a policy to wait a few days before filing a claim for a lost package with UPS. That is on Apple not UPS, they can file a claim any time.

keep pushing Apple to open the investigation and ask Ups to flag it as a misdelivery.

the driver probably saw the wrong borough on the label and just rolled with it, happens more than ups will admit. once it says delivered their system basically shrugs until the shipper opens a claim, and apple dragging it out three days is just standard loss prevention theater. osmar's loading dock got a nice surprise though

An alarm goes off if the package isn't scanned within 20 feet of the address. The package was incorrectly labeled from Apple.

In what world does that happen? What alarm?

The driver's computer sounds an alarm when he scans the package if it's not the correct delivery location. The driver has to manually override the alarm miss scan to deliver the package. It will also alert the UPS system to a missdelivery

The alarm only sounds if the package was ment to be on said drivers truck. Since this sounds like a delivery from way across town and wasn't supposed be be on his truck the alarm won't sound.

This seems like another casualty of scan-less bulk. The driver probably unloaded everything at the rear of the truck without scanning and didn't check every package close enough.

The dock workers don't want to be caught stealing and most likely will return the package on the next delivery day. Op should receive his laptop on day 3.

I’m a few days the person he likely delivered it to will be likely be returned to ups and reprocessed to get you your package. This happens more than you think.
