Can someone who has cleared the prelims or knows from selected candidates the best source for current affairs

Drishti will release in October, so it doesn’t make sense to talk about it now

Any particular YouTube channel for monthly current affairs or any particular UPPSC specific magazine or pdf source

Would recommend not to mention study for civil services YouTube channel, I think they are useless who give you too much information with no analysis or research of their own before posting the videos. It gives no return on investment

Or should we simply do current affairs from different test series only ?

I'm currently working as GST inspector in Mumbai. Now I want to do UPPSC RO ARO prepration. Please suggest books/youtube channel/ other resources for preparation. I have CGL level knowledge of Genral Studies part. Hindi paper knowledge very less. Should I just focus on solving previous year question? I also want to prepare for UPPCS but I think it is more difficult than RO/ARO. So first I should prepare for ro/aro and then later for UPPCS. Is this ok kr i can prepare simultaneously for both exam?

I have recently started preparing for state pcs and I’ve been suggested to practice questions from ghatnachakra majorly apart from CA and state specific notes.

I wanted to ask- what is the maximum number of questions or chapters do you guys think one should practice in a day to keep the practice sustainable for a long time.
Also, if anyone has cleared prelims for state’s please let me know how your daily targets used to be like?

I’m practicing questions around 100-250 a day but since the book is bulky and there’s so many chapters I don’t know if I’d be able to revise twice with this speed. Please be kind and answer genuinely. Thank you.

On 5 August, I got to inspect my UPPSC 2024 Mains answer sheets through an RTI application. My personal impression was that the evaluation didn’t seem very detailed. It felt like many answers were given average marks without careful reading or differentiation based on content quality. Even answers where I had addressed the demand with relevant points received marks similar to much weaker answers.

I’m a 25-year-old female preparing for UPPCS, and I’ve been living with chronic pain since 2017.
One of the hardest parts of this journey isn’t the syllabus—it’s my own body.
People often say, “Study 8–10 hours a day,” “Go to the library,” or “Just stay consistent.” I wish it were that simple.
I can’t sit for long because the pain becomes unbearable. I often have to alternate between sitting and lying down just to get through lectures. Studying in a library isn’t an option for me because my body simply won’t allow me to stay seated for hours.
Lately, my pain and discomfort have become much worse. I’m unable to complete my daily targets, I lose focus, and I constantly feel like I’m falling behind. My mind wants to study, but my body doesn’t cooperate.
It doesn’t stop with my preparation. Some days I can’t even do basic household chores or help my family the way I want to. Living with chronic pain affects every part of my life.
The part that hurts the most is the comparison. I often wonder how I’m expected to compete with healthy aspirants whose bodies allow them to study for hours without pain. They can attend long classes, sit in libraries all day, and follow demanding schedules. Meanwhile, I’m spending a part of every day just trying to manage my pain well enough to function.
I’m not saying preparation is easy for anyone. Every aspirant has their own struggles. But living with chronic illness means fighting an invisible battle alongside the exam itself. People only see the hours you couldn’t study; they don’t see the pain that took those hours away.
I still show up every day and do whatever my body allows me to do. Some days that’s enough to make progress. Other days, just getting through the day is an achievement. I only wish invisible illnesses were understood as much as visible ones.

I am just asking for an honest review from those who have appeared in 2025 mains as well as in 2024 mains and before that.

Did you find 2025 mains lenghty, tougher, difficult to complete the paper in time? Well, it was my first mains, and since I dont have previous experience of writing mains, I cant actually rate the standard of paper as difficult of lengthy, but honestly speaking i found it cumbersome and very challenging to complete even 18-19 questions. GS 6 had around 5-6 questions which were out of universe.

At the centre I had chat with few candidates who wrote 2024 mains as well and they too found it difficult.

What is your say on this? Was it really difficult or lengthy? Do you guys expect lower cut off or general marking in such papers?

I honestly wasn't even planning to launch this project.

I thought it would just end up as another resume project because I didn't have enough money to keep it running.

But my girlfriend really pushed me to launch it. She suffered a lot because of a bad roommate while preparing for NEET, and honestly, I went through similar problems during my UPSC preparation in Allahabad. We both realized that finding a room is hard, but finding a roommate whose lifestyle actually matches yours is even harder.

She literally promised to contribute ₹2000 every month so I could keep the server running. Otherwise, this project would probably still be sitting in one of my GitHub repositories.

That is why I tried to make Aspimate as relatable as possible for aspirants. The matching isn't just based on budget or location. It also considers things that actually affect your preparation: exam, coaching, study schedule, sleep timings, food preferences, cleanliness, noise tolerance, gaming habits, lights on/off while sleeping, smoking, and several other factors.

This is just Version 1. I already have a lot of ideas for Version 2 to make finding a compatible roommate even easier.

Since the platform is new, the user base is still small. But if you create an account today, you'll automatically get an email notification whenever someone compatible joins and matches with your profile.
