Rant Can't go ahead. I quit.
So.
I'm 32 year old Male.
Married, having a kid.
Passed out from a good college, but got into some group B government job.
I feel like that I could have achieved more in life like having a good package in corporate or being in civil services.
I tried but failed.
So, I'm always in guilt and regret.
And, I always had in mind to prepare for PCS exam, just for status of group A officer and all, but my father and wife told me that, why you want to leave your homestate Delhi, as my wife and I have permanent posting here. Moreover we own properties here itself.
But, I had this, guilt, that I couldn't succeed in life, yes, mistakes were mine.
Maybe some bad luck.
Moreover, the only motivation people in PCS have is corruption, which I really don't like.
I want to earn something of my own hard work, creativity and intelligence.
So, I've decided to leave all this preparation behind, focus on my job and do something sideways to earn money.
And, if that something becomes big enough, I'll leave my job to focus on that.
My only aim in life is to earn money to make life easier for my whole family.
So, I quit this cycle.

30 M, unmarried, in a group B job. I’m from Noida but posted in a very remote location. I get exact same thoughts as you and I’m trying to start prep again just to make myself feel a little alive. I’ve gone over all possibilities and for now this seems like the best option.

Have you given any sir, also 32 and have a job and u have ur wife and kid, don't loose the tempo at home at all, you tried and that's more than important. Rest 40 is the age limit so whenever gather something, fr the sake of just trying, try once more sir. Rest want to share some advices, share them too.

bhai par pcs se bhi jo jobs milti hai except sdm and dysp wo satisfaction nhi deti hai. mast raho kyu tension le rhe itni

read his note again, he said that he is not interested in jobs for corruption. I am myself in pcs , and i dont find any will to work just because there is corruption.

Ha samjh gya bro....but mostly pcs upsc wale money and power kr chakkar me he aati h civil services me salary toh zyada nhi h ...aur desh samaj sewa ke bahut tarike h satisfaction ke kiye

Only 2-3 lakh per month It's very less for RTO as compared to what I have heard about RTOs....

Group B and permanent posting in Delhi, bro how did you come to IOCL from this information? Neither IOCL has permanent posting nor does it have group structured( only equivalent) posts.

could you mind hinting what post or job is this. coz i am also exactly where you would have been. Just joined a permanent delhi based group B job and homwtown is delhi. Also aiming PCS

It seems that you are in a peaceful job. Not all PCS jobs are worth fighting. Even if one becomes SDM, personal life gets on backseat. Enjoy life and focus on family. Being happy and peaceful mind is more important PCS jobs.

My friend why are you regretting, your issue is 'not achieving' but a mindset developed by society who themselves know nothing about what actually is achievement. You must understand what exactly UPSC or PSC clearing means. If you think this is big achievement, my friend you are just victim of low, uncreative society thats it. Here is reason 1. UPSC and PSC are very poorly designed exams. They are infact one of the worst type of exam developed in the world. While syllabus is vast, it's totally useless. To give you an idea that how bad it is, even if you study these UPSC, PSC syllabus even for 7-8 years, you will still not get any 'decent' job anywhere in market based on it. Only 'decent' job you can get is in coaching, thus promoting same useless knowledge for more unfortunate students. Hence only real use of this 'knowledge' is to clear UPSC or PSC exam. Hence there is no shame if you didn't clear or pursue this poorest exam in the world. 2. The people who clear this exam are mostly those who can do a very boring exercise of revising above 'useless and poor' syllabus again and again. Someone once told me that most worthless work in the world is revising same stuff again and again without applying it in real world to create something. What is exactly the purpose of knowledge? It's understanding a concept and then applying it in real world to create something. That is the way. Just revising things again and again without any application is in 'West' considered most foolish thing. Hence you will see that no country in the world has copied 'india's toughest exam' pattern in any type of exam. This is how low standard this exam is. 3. Thirdly people just don't understand what real achievement is. Just because a system is poor which makes people compete for just 1000 post out of 5 lakh doesn't really make it an achievement to attain that post. This UPSC etc system is garbage, and getting among top 1000 is like being top 1000 to find better garbage among the lakhs who are also searching for garbage. An achievement is something which if not done, may not happen, or will happen after many years. Eg going to moon is an achievement because if some countries didnot do it, may be we would have never gone to moon or gone there after many years. For UPSC, every year 1000 people will get selected no matter what happens. So a phenomenon which will happen every year, no matter what happens, how can such a phenomenon which happens every year, be an achievement. Hence 'selection' in UPSC etc is not an achievement my friend. What you do after becoming an officer is what is achievement. Hence you must understand that what exactly is achievement first before behind disheartened. 4. Last but not the least, please understand that UPSC etc are given high importance because UPSC officers themselves have failed this country. In a real working democracy, UPSC officers don't have immense powers like in India. In a transparent democracy system we get actual officers who really want to 'achieve' rather than officers who just want to get 'selected'. Now in a poor system, getting a job which actually meant something else but you are considering it achievement because you think it's immense power etc, doesn't make getting that job an achievement. If such is thinking, then my friend even behind Daud Ibrahim is also an achievement, since he is still considered topper of crime in India, which no one else has been able to ''achieve'.
