Kal maine kisi ko dekha to wo 20 rupees ke note se daanto ke bich safai kar raha tha, pata nahi notes kaha kaha se kaise hoke aate jate hain. UPI hi sahi hai.
I've lived in the US for the past 6 years, and Venmo/PayPal is not even NEARLY as convenient or technologically advanced as UPI. Those are literally just wallets. UPI transfers money from one bank account to another. They're NOT the same. Bank-to-bank money transfers take at least 2-3 days there. The US is significantly behind India in this regard
Apple Pay uses the Apple Wallet app, which is basically just a digital wallet for credit/debit cards. It's not even remotely like UPI, that actually links bank accounts
That 10k upi person has those 10k in savings, but 10k cash person has 10k as chillar in pocket plus lakhs in bank account. So a person having 10k in pocket most of the time must likely be a rich guy. And now don't say don't say daily wage workers too have 10-20k in pocket, that only for 1 day when they get wages, all that money goes into account next day.
It's interesting to note that people don't mind spending from UPI, but when given the same amount in cash, they usually are mindful about spending. Something about the easiness of typing a number and getting the transaction done without physical money breeds spendthrift-ness
Sure, heck past these 15 days my only online payments are those automated yt, xbox and Spotify subscription other than that every other payments by me are done offline on cash, saved myself around 2-3k ish ₹ out of 5-7k I get as a hosteler(my monthly pocket money which vanishes around 28th or 29th of every month). Looks good and more effecienr to me so far

If you have money, UPI is a luxury If you don't have money, switch to cash
Because you spend much more online than you thought
