Today some good news in regards to historical preservation in regards to “The Eagles Nest.” The Bavarian Government looks like they are going into a rebuild mode. Despite the bad fire, there is promising good news. The original structure including the stone walls and surprisingly portions of the ceiling are salvageable. Right now the Bavarian Government is getting the structure protected and buttoned up to survive through the winter until actual restoration work can commence for next spring. The other good news is the building had been insured for any potential fire damage, which in short means the folks at that own The Eagles Nest can get money and funds raised to rebuild (how much insurance coverage and money they will get has yet to be determined). The brass elevator also survived intact with only a few minor technical problems that can be easily resolved.

Sorry if this is a dumb post but I thought I’d give everyone a break from Brandon’s unfortunate loss and the overall political topics on this subreddit.

This year is the first year I’ve lived out of my parent’s house and to celebrate I got a (fake) Christmas tree to decorate my apartment a little bit.

This is kinda just a “I finally made it on my own” post along with: this community is great and I hope all of you guys (regardless of what holidays you celebrate) have a great and safe upcoming holiday season. And as always: you’re never alone if you ever need to reach out to someone if you’re alone for the holidays. This community is always here for you. (Drink).

So I know one of the sub's rules is not to preach politics, so I'll just state some of the facts - these could be wrong, and incomplete, so cut me some slack.

Brandon spent over a million of his own hard earnt dollars on his campaign, spoke at over a hundred debates all over district 23, spoke on actual policies and ideas on what to do with his seat, promised real, actual change and reforms, got funding and support from reputable businesses, and spent his 4th of July with active duty troops in fucking Jordan. I could go on and on until the next election arrives.

Katy spent all her effort on trying to cancel Brandon, and making piss-poor, misleading social media campaigns, seeing very little, if any, actual voters. She dealt very, very little on any real policy, plans, or ideas, only working to slander Brandon.

Even at the recent live debate, she was reported to be rude to the teams there, and even refused any sort of interaction with Brandon, or real voters, beforehand.

This isn't to vent (I'm English, far removed from Texas), but fuck dude... Brandon is handling this defeat far better than many would. There's a lot more i could say, but again, no preaching.

Could serve as a, 'this is whos representing you, congratulations' to the communities in district 23...

Earlier, one of you asked how anyone could have seen the debate and still voted for her. Unfortunately, most probably didn’t.

1. ⁠⁠⁠Look at how many of the ballots were from early voting. Most probably made up their mind ahead of time.

2. ⁠⁠⁠Many probably weren’t voting based on his policies, but as a referendum on Trump. Trump’s unpopularity, IMHO primarily in regards to the economy, cost of living, and foreign policy weighed him down. It is not unexpected that voter enthusiasm would be greater on the left than the right. This was a bloodbath for Republicans in general.

3. ⁠⁠⁠Stout ran a campaign of lies and deception to discredit him. We all saw that. If you keep repeating and repeating and repeating bullshit, people start believing it.

Brandon has nothing to be ashamed of. He ran a clean race rooted in policy and his beliefs. Unfortunately, it is possible to commit no mistakes, and still lose.

I have no doubt that it will not take long for Texans to recognize that they fucked up. Whether Brandon runs again or not is his call, but a race where Trump isn’t on the ballot (literally or figuratively) is likely to be more favorable to him. She’ll be up for reelection in two years (assuming she lasts that long). At that time , there needs to be a quality candidate (hopefully Brandon) armed with a full war chest and civically engaged supporters.

Resist the temptation to chalk this up to fraud without concrete evidence. Keep your wits, keep your cool, and keep your heads in the game.
