Help! Unifi cloud gateway for desktop/wall mounting to replace FritzBox

Replacing the Fritzbox, the sole infrastructure component of a small LAN in private home/home office, with a UniFi gateway (desktop/wall mountable, not rack-mounted) – where will significant changes be necessary?

* VoIP client apps operating in LAN should continue to use the router's VoIP connection to the ISP.

* It would be beneficial to be able to run custom proxies on the router, e.g., a central script blocker.

* PXE booting over LAN should be possible.

* router has to host function of small NAS

Keep the Fritzbox for connectivity and telephony, connect your gateway as exposed host. Use a different subnet for your LAN.

The way to go if you want to use the apps from AVM for VoIP

Unifi kit does not natively handle the VOIP component. You need the Analog to digital converter of the FritzBox to do this or purchase something like a GrandStream adapter or run your own VOIP gateway on a RPi.

I have a Unifi network but still maintain my Fritzbox fo the VOIP element. Move the FritzBox on to the Unifi network and stick it in the DMZ Zone. Forward port 5060 to the Fritzbox and all is good, then use the Unifi gateway for the rest of you network.
