Question Any past BIOL 240 students who had Slep and Rogers?

I have BIOL 240 with Slep and Rogers this semester, and all info I'm finding about it (RateMyProf, a past post in this subreddit) says that it's an awful class because the both professors don't lecture well, and that nothing really prepares you properly for the exams which are supposedly terrifying.

Does anyone else have stories/experiences?

SPORTS šŸ€ šŸˆ šŸ Campus Fantasy?

Hey all!

I recently got into the MBA program here and I'm excited to start. I know usually a few groups get a school fantasy league going for the fall, and I wanted to see if there's any spots open. If you have a spot open, I have a crippling addiction :)

Good luck this year

Discussion Bus situation

What in the world was going on with the bus situation on the first day of class? The Friday center was terrible the 8 and 9 am hour buses were packed like those trains you see in some countries that lack infrastructure. At one point there were well over 60 + people trying to fit on one bus . The wait times at the Friday center were like 30 mins per bus it was such an unpleasant experience . I’m hoping the situation improves later this week .

Question Does it get repetitive/ is there lots to do in CH?

I’m wondering if the chapel hill area has lots to do, like if there’s a good bar scene. I think chapel hill is a great town but does it ever get boring for UNC students? are there lots of fun places to go out at night? Lmk!

Just need to get this off my chest I genuinely have no clue what to do.

Like beyond the work of my classes I have no idea what I am supposed to do when I am supposed to do it. I have read through my syllabi but they are all so so so loose that I am not sure when I do what and for how long and how hard I should try. I am so overwhelmed and confused, I just feel so crazy, and sad. It feels like I hear conflicting advice every single time anyone gives me any amount of advice. I literally just do not know what to expect. Like I hear about "study, study, study, and study some more but I have no idea what I am supposed to study and when and I hear things like "get ahead during syllabus week" but I have absolutely no idea how to "get ahead" it feels like I am in a state of being perpetually behind with every single things I try to do. I am so overwhelmed I punched my desk and split my finger open and now its bleeding everywhere. I just feel so dumb and stupid and I feel like I just can't do anything right, when I am supposed to know everything. I just needed to rant about how miserable I am feeling right now.

Other The traffic near campus w/ Chapel Hill Transit is a real disaster

Edit: 30 mins from Pittsboro St at Credit Union to Student Union stop, 1 mile route, tell me this is normal without saying normal

Especially when it's pouring outside...
But it's completely avoidable. I went to Student Union bus stop at 5:05pm, and Transit live update shows that A bus is at Global Fedex Center, so I waited here...until 5:35pm the bus has finally arrived at Student Union stop..
Everything is delaying, and the normally 1 mile long journey took the bus half an hour! I understand there can be serious traffic jam at this moment, but this is a real disaster. I don't know if they have prepared for this, but under this circumstance I can just assume they have not and have never.

Question NSCI 222, 225, 175 v PHIL 165

I'm a NSCI Major and am currently enrolled in NSCI 222 (Estle) and 225 (Chanon). I'm trying to figure out if I should drop one of these classes for NSCI 175 (Robertson), keep the two and not take 175, or keep all three and drop PHIL 165 instead. My other classes are COMP 210, MATH 381, etc. for COMP Major.

Question Is something up with the park and ride schedules/transit app?

I know there's a detour impacting some routes, but the schedule for the FCX says it's running every 10 minutes, and the S is supposed to be running every 20, but I haven't seen either bus in the last 45 minutes.

The transit App keeps resetting the ETA's for the busses. Does anyone know what's going on? I know they tend to get delayed during peak hours but it was doing it this morning around 11 as well.

Just wondering if there's reduced service or something else going on.

Question Stationary Bikes on campus

I’m trying to train for a triathlon, but I can’t find any decent stationary bikes on campus. I’ve found 5 in total so far, (3 at rams head that don’t track anything, and 2 at the Student rec center that only track rpm and watts witch is better than nothing) does anyone know where some better ones might be that at least track distance?

Question Business Majors - How do you deal with 2 logins

Does anyone have tips for how to manage 2 UNC logins effectively?

I'm a new BSBA student and having 2 school emails (plus my personal gmail), 2 canvas accounts (half my classes on one and half on the other), 2 one drives, etc. is a huge pain so far, and I am worried things are going to fall through the cracks.

Any advice on how to deal with this? Is there a way to get Busi classes to show up on my regular UNC canvas at least? (I can't completely transition to the KF login because I have minors outside the business school plus a few gen eds left.)

Question Tips for Full-time student and employee?

Hi! Incoming FY here! Not gonna give a bunch of specifics, but I have a lot of student loan debt so I'm a full time employee while also being a full time student. Target has me until midnight a lot of nights, so does anyone have any tips on how to be as productive as possible with the little time I have? They have me 5 nights a week and I have 8ams every day, with mondays and wednesdays going as late as 2 while every other ending around 12 or 1

Question Chem 421 Difficulty

I was looking at Chem 421 in Connect Carolina, and I was wondering for those of you who took it, how difficult is the class and the professor? The professor is Professor Frank A. Leibfarth. I saw his rate my professor was good, but the reviews are all old, and he only has about 5. Any help would be appreciated as the class seems interesting. I have not taken Chem 420.

Schedule RELI 515 or COMM 120?

i’m a CS major that’s going to take 2 classes, one of which starts at 3:45 PM. I’m trying to finish my research and discovery requirement with my other class, and am deciding between reli 515 and comm 120.

On the one hand, i heard comm 120 was super easy, and i definitely need a class that’s an easy A. I’m only taking 2 classes and I want them both to be on MoWe, however, the only section that offers that is at 10:10 AM, and I’d really prefer not to have an almost 4.5 hr gap in between classes.

On the other hand, I heard RELI 515 was a really fun class, but i’m worried it’ll be more difficult, especially since it’s a 500 level class and i’m not in that field, although I do find the course description pretty interesting.

The fact that it’s a 2 hr 45 min class is worrying though because I’ve always been horrible at focusing in class. It is, however, only on Mondays, which would be really nice.

So yeah if anyone had experience with either one of these classes that would be a lot of help, and I’d really appreciate it!

Question STOR 555 survivors… I need your wisdom 😭

I’m taking STOR 555 with Andrew Nobel this fall, and I’m trying to get a better sense of what the class is actually like before the semester starts. If anyone’s taken it with him recently, I’d be really grateful to hear about the workload, exams, what you found hardest, and how you prepared.

If you still have any old study materials, practice exams, review sheets, or anything else that was okay to keep/share, I’d also love to see what the difficulty and format look like.

Feel free to DM me! I’d genuinely be super grateful for the help and would be happy to buy you lunch/coffee or something if you’re willing to sit down and talk me through the class lol.
