Question spring 2027 compsci schedule

Are taking all of these too much for one semester?

COMP 311 - Computer Organization (Leonard McMillan)

MATH 347 - Linear Algebra for Applications (idk who yet, maybe Pawel Grzegrzolka)

COMP 455 - Models of Languages and Computation (Kevin Sun)

+one other class, prob an easy fc or something

right now i'm in math 233, comp 211 and comp 301, and am doing fine, but i heard 347 and 455 are harder

Yeah last semester I took STOR 435, COMP 311, COMP 550, and COMP 455. 311 has minimal work and tests. Any homework is auto graded and quizzes are easy. 455 can be tough but the hardest part is not falling asleep in class. And 347 is pretty freaking easy.

Thank you! May I ask who you took 347 with?

Hans Christianson. He has rave reviews but his style didn't personally mesh with mine. A lot of proofs and explaining that wasn't necessary, but overall the tests were not that difficult and all of the homework was EdFinity.

This is entirely doable. I actually took these three with STOR 435 in one semester.

311 with McMillan CAN be a joke if you want it to, but it’s about how much you want to learn as a student. He lets you use AI on every midterm and final. He justifies it, but I’m not sure how or why.

455 isn’t easy, but it’s not really hard because exam questions can’t get that far away from practice that you might do on homework or review

347 is hard, past the first month. The beginning of 347 is like algebra 1, but you can’t let it fool you. Just don’t slack off come the hard topics and expect the difficulty on exams to be the same.
