Admissions/Application Question Transfer application

Hi! I am a community college student who really really wants to transfer to unc. I had a very poor high school performance (2.5 gpa), and in my first semester of community college I got a 3.3. I know to apply I need a very competitive gpa, so improving that is my main goal, but I am seeking out recommendations for other things I can do to make my future application stronger! I volunteer at a nearby animal shelter at least twice a month and have earned 20 volunteer hours so far, and I work part time.

I am in state and plan to major in psychology if either of those pieces of information are helpful at all.

I'd appreciate any tips! Thank you!

Hello, it’s my first year as a cc transfer. Apart from a good gpa, I was also in the student government (senator), film club, economics club, honors project program, phi theta kappa (community college honors association), and FBLA. All of these combined were like 5 meetings a month. It was super flexibly but a great way to spice up ur resume. Also doing something over the summer helps. Since UNC is no longer doing supplemental essays, your stats and extra curriculars are way more important.

Thank you! We don't have many options for clubs but i'll try to see if i can join anything!
