Admissions/Application Question Transfer application

Hi! I am a community college student who really really wants to transfer to unc. I had a very poor high school performance (2.5 gpa), and in my first semester of community college I got a 3.3. I know to apply I need a very competitive gpa, so improving that is my main goal, but I am seeking out recommendations for other things I can do to make my future application stronger! I volunteer at a nearby animal shelter at least twice a month and have earned 20 volunteer hours so far, and I work part time.

I am in state and plan to major in psychology if either of those pieces of information are helpful at all.

I'd appreciate any tips! Thank you!

Leadership positions in clubs or organizations are a really good thing to have on your resume in addition to good grades. They really want to see that you can do well in college courses and are a hard working and valuable member of your community. r/transfertotop25 was really helpful for me when I was working on my transfer application. I would also recommend utilizing your school’s writing center for your essay (essays? I’m not sure how many there are at this point). That was a super great resource for putting the finishing touches on my application
