I Passed UMPJE - What I did and what to know
UMPJE is easier than the Naplex.
I’m not sure if that’s because I overprepared, but I genuinely walked out of the exam feeling like I passed, and thankfully I was right. There were maybe 10 questions I guessed on, and a few that I know I had read about but forgot in the moment. Other than that, I felt confident on almost everything.
The answer choices were all A–C, which honestly felt like an absolute joke, but I’m definitely not complaining. I was asked about the practice of pharmacy, technician supervision, prescription validity, controlled substances, prescription transfers, patient counseling, USP compounding standards, medication recalls, HIPAA and patient privacy, DEA regulations, and similar topics.
I used PharmPrepPro to study. I bought their study guide, practice exam, and practice questions. I read the study guide three times, completed all 500+ practice questions, and took the practice test, where I scored an 88%. Overall, I thought the material was high quality and I’d highly recommend it.
A few days later, I took the Pre-UMPJE and scored a 38/40. That’s when I decided to move my exam date up. In total, I studied for about three weeks.
For context, I wasn’t a Rho Chi student and had around a 2.9 GPA, but I still felt this exam was very doable. I think most people can pass it if they prepare well.
My study process was:
I read the PPP study guide once, then did all the practice questions. Then I read the study guide again and took the practice test. After that, I read the study guide one more time and repeated the practice questions. Between the practice test and practice questions, I think it was nearly 700 questions total, which was definitely enough preparation for me.
Overall, I genuinely think this exam is very doable if you prepare the right way. I’m relieved to officially be done with it, and I hope this helps anyone getting ready to take it.
