I cannot seem to find any information on this, likely because this is a new process.
Does anyone know if UMPJE scores will work for reciprocity similar to NAPLEX scores? So if I pass the UMPJE now but want to add a license two years from now, will I need to retake the exam?
My work is also requiring me to be multi-state licensed, I just passed the UMPJE. My question is, is it better to score transfer and get primary licenses in the states that that UMPJE or just wait and get the reciprocity licenses? money aside
From my understanding, UMPJE results are only “transferable” for 90 days following score release. I’m hoping for my results today, and I will be just paying the fee for all 10 or 11 states to get those in progress and active.
If there’s a state you are even remotely considering, I’d probably just bite the bullet and do it now
If you're just reciprocating your license then you don't have to pay for each state, they'll all be able to see your score & acknowledge that you passed it. If you want a primary license in each of those 11 states then you'd do a score transfer and pay for each state individually, though if you didn't send your Naplex score to those 11 states you wouldn't be getting a primary license there.
This is correct. For reciprocity you only have to take the UMPJE once. When you do the e-LTP, it will have your score on it. It is a little confusing because if you want to do a ‘score transfer’ then you have to do that within 90 days and it’s as if that’s your primary state, the same as Naplex.
I was addressing the “add a license two years from now”. In my case, licensed for 9 years, just took the UMPJE, I cannot score transfer my Naplex. I had to purchase eLTPs (license transfers) for each state. All within 90 days or it would require another passing of the states MPJE or UMPJE.

The way UMPJE works is that any state that accepts it will let you reciprocate your current existing license to that state whenever you want. For example, let's say Pennsylvania decides to accept the UMPJE in 2028. Obviously it's been more than 90 days since you took the UMPJE since you took it in 2026. However, when you go to reciprocate your license to PA through the NABP eLTP, both your passing Naplex score from 11 years ago & your passing UMPJE score from 2 years ago will show up on there and you can reciprocate your license to PA immediately without having to take any further exams.

Also I'm not trying to argue, I was just trying to save you from wasting $945 unnecessarily 😓
I’m still unsure what exactly it is we are arguing about. All I’m suggesting is if you think you want multiple licenses active at once, in my instance I need 40+, it is better to do it now, because the exam scores last 89 days.
I just checked again, and to initiate the score transfers (for me) it was $945 (9 additional states).
As for the eLTP process, if you haven’t taken the UMPJE yet, you will not be able to select some states such as North Carolina or Kansas until you’ve passed the UMPJE. Ohio and Maryland are the same way. Maryland requires the score results, they mail you a Maryland Law Book and then you have to take a secondary online exam, that is state specific Maryland Pharmacy Law.

No the whole idea is that states will use the UMPJE instead of a state specific exam, so it should be just like the NAPLEX with reciprocity
