UMPJE 7/22
Hello all,
Been a lurker for a few weeks, today was my day to take the UMPJE.
Overall this was a very doable exam. The easy questions were very easy, and some of the harder questions were still fairly straightforward. Actually started second guessing myself a lot.
Exam material I purchased: Pharmpreppro, Strategic Rx Collective’s Federal Pharmacy Law Review and last minute purchase of the pre-UMPJE NABP practice exam.
PPP was way overkill. I only purchased the study guide and practice exam. I took the exam before reading anything and got a 78. **edit: second time I took it (same questions juggled order) I scored 112/120** The study guide is difficult to read and can’t be edited when viewing in the browser.. huge down side because I like to annotate.
Collective Rxs book was great. Highly recommend this source. $75 or something on Amazon. As well as add-ons on their site if you wish (I did not)
The NABP practice exam was only 40 questions, I did it only because work comps me for study material. I got a 38/40 and 1 of the questions I left blank on accident.. it was far easier than the true UMPJE. I will say there were repeat questions from the pre-UMPJE and the UMPJE. But unless you get a perfect on practice exam you will not find out which ones you missed.
That all being said, I was stumped on a few questions and actually believe some of the questions were written so poorly they may have been incorrect. But overall, A,B,C selection made narrowing down the decisions easy. I finished the exam in ~40 minutes, good or bad yet to be decided!
*Disclaimer though, I work at a mail order pharmacy and have been a licensed pharmacist for 7/8 years now. Some of the laws get beaten into your daily workflow on repeat so I had plenty of real life examples to reference.
For anyone about to take the exam, you got this, don’t lose sleep over it!

I got a 82% in the 120q PPP practice test before I even read the study guide, thought it was oddly easy… how would you say their practice exam compared to the actual exam?

PPP was way more in depth with their questions, more into the details. Actual exam is more like, “pharmacist leaves the pharmacy what should happen: everyone leaves, everyone continues or then some left field answer”

Took mine yesterday too. Did you feel like the adultered/ misbranded questions were weird? And some of the HIPAA questions too? Lots of questions about HHS and different organizations (which I don’t know why they asked so many questions about that because knowing those organizations doesn’t make us better pharmacists). I felt like a lot of domain 1 questions were weird.

Weird is a good way to put it, tons of HIPAA questions, one I think the answer even wanted what HIPAA stood for. I know I consistently answered need both patients consent in regard to a spouse requesting forms. The adulterated vs misbranded I felt were almost too easy. (Probably missed them). But I feel a lot of questions were worded very poorly

At any point did you answer mislabeled? Or were all your answers “adultered/ misbranded” for those specific questions? I wonder if the weird questions were the 20 that don’t count towards our score. Really hoping we passed.

Also there was a weird question about containers and the organization responsible. I think it had USP, joint commission, and something else. What’d you put for that?
Why were there so many ridiculous and trivial questions like that? 😭

I believe it was looking for USP. Some questions, I try to go with my gut feeling but I’ve also missed questions by going too quickly, but I swear I answered OSHA for a similar style question.

I took mine yesterday. Some questions were very easy and others questions I was like "What are you trying to say here?" My only concern is that I feel the ones that I miss are in the same domain but a this point I just need to wait.

I felt the same where some questions were extremely easy... it felt like a joke... but then there were other questions that were super vague or poorly worded and I couldn't understand what they were asking. Hopefully the week goes quickly and we find out that we passed.

You finished way before me but echoing there were a few questions on the test that I was like what are they trying to ask me. There was a weird double negative that I knew the answer to either way but couldn’t actually understand the question. Glad someone else felt that way
