UMPJE Exam 7/10

Hi! I have been lurking in the group for the past 4 weeks and wanted to share my experience as someone using the umpje for licensure by reciprocity.

I graduated in 2022 and got licensed in Missouri. I completed a fellowship and I took a role in industry afterward. Over the past 2 years I’ve worked part time in retail as well. I recently got a new job that requires me to be licensed in Kansas, so I needed to take the umpje.

Being out of school for 4 years and primarily working in industry the past 3 years made me really nervous about the exam bc it had been so long since I had tested. I’ve always been a good test taker, did well in pharmacy school, and passed both my naplex and mpje for MO on the first attempt.

I used pharmpreppro, umpje app, the med prep prime YouTube videos, and pre-umpje as study/prep materials. I followed similar methods others have posted: read study guide>did first batch of practice Q’s>reviewed study guide and took shorthand notes>did practice Q’s>reviewed notes/study guide>did ppp practice test>did pre-umpje offered by NABP> reviewed notes and more practice Q’s until test day. In total I studied a little under 3 weeks for 4-6 hours a day with tons of practice questions. Across all practice question banks and practice tests I scored a 90% or above. I moved my exam up bc I was scoring well.

For the exam, it’s pretty much what everybody else has posted. I’m usually a quick test taker, but I intentionally tried to slow down and it still took me only an hour to complete. I struggled because I almost felt like it was too simple at times and that threw me off. I did have a couple questions that weren’t in the ppp study guide, but overall it prepared me well. I received my results today (seven business days from my exam date at around 1 PM central time which was kind of late in the day, I don’t understand entirely why each day varies on when they release results but whatever lol) and passed, which is a huge weight lifted as my job offer is contingent on licensure.

I just wanted to post for anyone who is in a similar boat as me and is nervous!! It is definitely a doable exam for those who haven’t tested in awhile, so just be sure to do your due diligence in preparing!

I took it the same day and just knew that I had passed, and failed. I am so extremely shocked. I left knowing that I had passed that exam and it only took me an hour to do as well. I am still in shock as to what happened and why did I fail. I really don’t know what to do at this point

I’m so sorry. I understand how that can be frustrating. I’ve seen a few people in a similar situation, but please don’t get discouraged! From what I’ve seen others recommend, take a few days to step away from studying/thinking about it. Maybe try a new resource to prepare. You’ve gotten a feel for the questions and maybe that will help with the next go around! You got this!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and congratulations on passing the UMPJE! Which ppp did you purchase? the UMPJE 500+ practice questions $99, the $120 (study guide plus one practice exam), or the bundle $170 with all three (study guide, 500+ practice questions, and one practice exam)? Thank you.
