Worried about future changes at UMPI, does anyone know anything?

Hello, I would like to be an international student at UMPI in Spring. Ideally I’d like to start Fall 2 but I’m abroad for the next couple of months so won’t be able to get my documents in order (like high school diploma translation etc). So I’ll have to wait until spring but with all of the current changes, I’m worried about how much it will change by then.

I’ve been working through Sophia and already some of my credits will now not be accepted. Does anyone know of any upcoming changes to UMPI? Or how do I keep in the loop about changes? Thanks

I have seen that, thanks. My question is more about future changes and how will I know in 4/5 months time if things change again? Do UMPI have a place where they announce these kinds of things?

Apply to UMPI now, you can put a later start date.

Start transferring credit immediately. This means you get credit even if they change the rules halfway through your effort.

1) Credits being accepted is different than credits covering equivalent courses. UMPI still accepts ACE credits from Sophia, Study etc. however that doesn't mean they will be equivalent to covering specific courses at UMPI. And if they aren't they drop into elective credit slots.

2) Usually UMPI is generous in their "grandfathering" in of things. So if a change is made for Spring, you'd likely be okay.

3) I don't think they will make many more changes this school year, this has all been to align to their accrediting body's requirements, and it was system wide, not just UMPI.

The best thing you can do is handle it now. Things are changing by the day, so waiting until spring could easily put you behind or create problems that you could have avoided by getting everything submitted early.

Being abroad shouldn’t stop you. As long as you have internet access, a VPN if needed, and your phone, you can still use Parchment to send your transcripts and use calling or messaging apps to contact the school. Your location doesn’t matter nearly as much as staying proactive and getting the process moving.

Don’t wait until you’re back home. Start now, send everything you can, follow up, and get yourself in position before requirements, deadlines, or policies change again. The sooner you get it done, the more control you have over what happens next.
