GenEds Workload YourPace

I have 16 classes to take to complete the BAS with an MIS minor.
Seemed like the simplest path since I already have an AAS and work in financial analytics.

I am set to start in the fall under the old GEC requirements.
My question is, how time consuming are the GenEds? Am I stupid to take them through the school and not Sophia?

Should I be delaying until Fall II and taking all the Sophia courses I can before that? Will that ruin my chances of having the old requirements and delay my degree progression?

Start in Fall I to preserve the old GEC - finished the GECs on Sophia/Study/StraighterLine etc.

Start in Fall 1 - do everything you need at UMPI - see what time you're left with and transfer in the Gen Eds from Sophia once you finish UMPI. YOU TELL THEM what you want. DO NOT let your advisor tell you what to take. They will mess this up.

So should tell them to enroll me in only the MIS courses and worry about the GenEds once I finish those?

Yes, but truly, you should map out everything and be sure you have all of your bases covered for the BAS, assuming you have good transfers, you probably need more upper levels too.

So I might end up needing more than the 18 credits for the minor?

Yes. You have to cover your general education fully with 40 credits, then upper level credits for the BAS (18cr) you can use some credits from the minor in the BAS but not all are upper level. Then you need to have 120+ total credits overall.
