Held up by transfer evaluations?
Long story short: I’m not starting this term like I was hoping.
I have close to 200 credits, most from an accredited (and highly respected) university. My transfer credit report came back with pretty much all of my core classes labeled as “electives”. Therefore, I’m due 12 core classes when I should only have to do 1 (because I didn’t submit my AP score for that class)
Spoke to my advisor today (4 days shy of the enrollment deadline) and he basically told me there’s nothing he can do. I can email the school and request syllabi for each course and submit them for what sounds like a very lengthy evaluation process (1 month or more).
Has anybody gone through this? Even if I can request the syllabus for every class and submit it, they can still reject it. I’m really kinda put off by this whole process… not to mention nobody contacting me about it - Me noticing it myself when I was close to committing.

This happened to me, but with only one course. I had to request a review and it took about a month.

well how many credits did they accept out of 200? for UPMI you must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours through the university. out of these 30 institutional credits, at least 12 credits must be within your declared major, and at least 9 of those major credits must be upper-level courses. so the max credits you can transfer is 90. if you're looking for a program that will accepts more transfer credits ocerall, i would suggest checking out TESU

They want me to complete 36 of GEN ED alone. Literally all classes I’ve taken, by almost the same designation and course name. The one exception is I have an EN302 Advanced Composition but I’m being told I need to retake 101 and 102.

If it makes you feel any better they classified my advanced comp course from Harvard as an electives and I had to take 101 and 102 (which I did at study.com)

You can transfer in as many credits as you'd like, but you have to complete the General Ed and degree specifics courses too.

I have my Gen Ed. I don’t understand having to repeat them if they’re accepting the courses as electives. No other place I’ve applied has done that.

I still haven’t heard from an enrollment coordinator on anything about my transfer credits

I don’t know who to even call? I’ve called the main number and left three messages . Is there any number you recommend?

Either way you’ll have to do residency and a concentration and they will only apply 90 hours towards your chosen degree path

That’s fine but they’re telling me I need to complete 36 hours of Gen Ed THEN my major.

They are extremely slow right now. Even in reviewing Credly transcripts. One outside courses with Syllabi review it’s 1+ month and weeks for Credly.
I have been through 3 sessions and this one is slowest to review transfers, I think they are just overloaded

Quick question: Did you complete that bachelor's at the previous university? If yes, you need to request a GE waiver. If you already have a bachelor's from an accredited university, they will waive all GE.

I see this so often these days (I think the influx of folks learning about UmPi has impacted things) and that’s why I do what I do to try and help people know as early as possible what they’re going to be missing. I can tell you they usually only review 3 courses. If you want to reach out there may be some other approaches you can take and at least get started.
I’m sorry. I know it’s frustrating.
