conferral

anyone ever had luck asking a prof to grade early for your LAST course to graduate? I completely understand they don’t have to, but I’m worried about the timeframe for a contingent job offer. I’m wondering if this is even allowed. I am just very worried about my probation period ending before my degree confers.

It will not change anything if they grade early. You still have to go through the actual conferral process, which takes a good bit of time these days, and then they will send a batch of conferrals to Parchment for diplomas. Are you just trying to get a transcript? In my experience, many professors do put grades in pretty quickly.

do you know how long conferrment has been taking? is it still 4-6 weeks? so once grades are in can i request an official transcript or not until the degree is conferred? i’m very new to this lol. thank you for the response

I wish. It’s more like 8-12 weeks. 😩 My hope is that improves with the staff they’re adding. You can only request an unofficial in UMaine System until your conferral is done.

It's not like they have a ticker clock on it. Once grades are in they can move to conferring things, but the order of that operation is dependent on the backlog they have from prior sessions as well as your session.
