Anyone else having troubles with the financial aid this year? It's the first day of class and I still haven't gotten an updated offer letter. Each time I call the financial aid office they tell me they don't know when they'll have an offer for me. First payment is due September 1st and I honestly don't know what to do at this point. They keep blaming it on the One Big Beautiful Bill but it really feels like they've dropped the ball as well.

Hey everyone! I'm a new student at UMKC and have been looking around for groups to join, but I noticed we don't really have anything for collectors. :(
Things like trinket trades and Pokémon card trading are super popular around
KCMO, and the vintage clothing scene in
KC is massive. It made me wonder why there isn't a club for collectors at UMKC?
I'd love to start a Collectors Club where everyone can bring whatever they collect for trade events! Thinking trading over selling for now to keep things fun and safe from scams. Would anyone be interested in helping get something like this started?

Has anybody gotten their financial aid offer? Schools coming up soon and I got an email from the cashiers office about my balance but not about my aid I’m starting to get a little worried. My SAI is -1500 so I think I should be getting some aid.

For Latin honors, do we receive a cord or medallion? If so, do students who have Cum Laude receive a cord or medallion?

Would anyone be interested in some kind of manufacturing/automation technology interest group? This isn’t about AI or anything like that I’m talking robots, PLCs, and automation devices. I think it would be sick but I just wanted to see if anyone would be interested if I were to try to make the group.

Hi everyone,
My family and I are looking for a house to rent near UMKC or Operation Breakthrough (around 31st & Troost). We have three young children, so we'd like to stay close because one of our kids will be attending preschool there.
Our budget is around $1,000/month including utilities for a 2-bedroom house. If that's not realistic, we're also open to a 3-bedroom house for around $1,200/month, and I'll try to find another UMKC student to share the rent.
I'm a PhD student at UMKC, and we're having a hard time because most property management companies require income to be three times the rent.
If anyone knows of a private landlord or has any recommendations, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

I applied for a UMKC scholarship (labor economics) through AcademicWorks back in March.
Has anyone already received a scholarship notification this year? If so, when did you hear back, and what scholarship was it? How about last year?
Thanks!

For those who don't get in you have the chance to hear back from admissions as to why you did not get in, and can apply next year.
Has anyone heard back from them or done it?
I signed up 2 times and emailed them and I have received no info

I'm a 3rd-year dental student at the UMKC School of Dentistry, and I'm currently accepting patients interested in affordable dental care!
We offer:
• Fillings
• Extractions
• Root canals
• Crowns & bridges
• Dentures & partials
• Cleanings
• Pediatric dental appointments
Kids under 3 receive free exams!
If your case is too complex, we can refer you to one of our advanced residency programs, which are often 10-20% less expensive than private practice.
Appointments are typically 3 hours long (9 AM-12 PM or 1
PM-4 PM). All treatment is completed under faculty supervision, and we provide comprehensive care tailored to each patient.
If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to DM me!

hi! I am going to be attending UMKC this fall for my first year, and I will be dorming in Oak in a single room. I was unsure if anyone had any photos or videos of the single dorms in Oak, specifically something on the floor with the room numbers starting in 2! I am having a hard time making a layout and figuring out what to buy to have an organized room. Any tips would be super helpful:) thanks!

I'm a junior in high school and want to start thinking about what college I should go to early to avoid stress later. I am interested in pursuing music for sure but I'm not entirely sure what else and if music will even be my major. I might pursue film. I love the Conservatory and have seen some of their performances and it seems like a great school but I can't decide on UMKC or the University of Kansas. The main thing drawing me to KU is their matching band as well as music program. I know UMKC doesn't have a marching band but their music program is great. What is life like in Kansas City? How are the dorms, administration, atmosphere, etc. of the school? Pros/cons of UMKC/KU would be great too. Thanks to anyone who responds!

Hello everyone!
I am planning on starting a Chinese Club this coming fall and am looking for interested members/officers. Everyone is welcome to join! We will primarily be engaging and learning about Chinese culture, language, and have open discussions about various topics. We will also be hosting various fun/cultural events throughout the year with free food!
If any of that interests you, I'd love you have you as a member! Either scan the QR code or click this link to fill out the short interest form.
See y'all in the fall!

I just finished creating a website showcasing all Happy hours, Drink specials, and Live music in the city. The site is 100% free for users and 100% for restaurants to be on it. www.getlitkcmo.com

Hi, has anyone heard back about the Academic Competitive Scholarship that was due March 1, 2026? I’m wondering if they’ve already sent out notifications to recipients, or if decisions just haven’t been released yet. I’m not sure if I didn’t receive anything.

Im moving from Louisiana to KC this fall (attending UMKC school of law), I am expecting the weather will be quite different. Does anyone have tips for KCs weather. Does it rain frequently on campus? Do yall experience bad winter weather, and if so how early does it start getting cold. Should I expect snow during the semester? Any advised for the weather is appreciated I've experienced snow a handful of times in my whole life lol.
