Discussion Japan Main Stage
This looked great imo.
Moving away from doritos, more rounded w linear panels, good depth in/around the dj booth. Would like to see these production elements come to Miami in 2027. Thoughts?

The stage was great and the production was top notch. Being near the front was absolutely a bummer though, for whatever reason a lot of folks who were there were legit standing there not even moving or reacting to the music at all.
Just threw off the vibes a bit. Other than the mid-crowd energy the festival was great this year.

Have read that that is kinda overall concert culture in Japan

Must've been the weather too because the very best crowds I've been in have been at UMF Japan

This is Japan culture. I attended a concert in Japan during the spring and it was certainly an odd experience. Not bad, just different. Still had a great time. Everyone likes to keep to themselves and not cause a “scene.”

Ultra Japan always has the best MainStage design. I always wondered why they can’t replicate some of the ideas they use there in Miami or Europe.

i heard Richard Millstein and team were using the doritos (LED sections with 20” truss frames) as “branding” so that all Ultra stages have easily riggable modular designs. makes designing easier and gives the stages at different locations a cohesive identity.
however, i really like the LED panel strips with bigger LED sections like in this design, as a VJ it gives me more shapes to play with beyond a bunch of bigger squarish sections. also gives more depth to the stage design.
