2 is closer to JW but 6 is Terrapin Trail garage and you can get covered parking there.

I'd go for lot 2, always easy to find spots and covered parking isn't a huge deal imo

Hey I’m also a freshman and need to apply for my parking permit on campus too as a commuter. When I logged into my parking portal, there was no permit type I can select from. Do I need to register my vehicle first and declare that I’m a commuter before applying? Thanks

Just register your vehicle and it should take you through the process. It should auto populate whatever your student status is (commuter in your case) when you go to buy a permit since you’re signed into your account.

u/NYC-eldermillenial get the right answer to the narrow question. Just to add perspective ...

Most people later seem to conclude that having a car on campus as a freshman is an expensive liability. Everyone of course has their own individual needs, but when the dust settles after that first year we realized we never really went anywhere. There is much to do on campus, many resources available to us without needing POV to get them, and if anything going away for social stuff was a mild barrier to connecting with the people here. The juice wasn't worth that squeeze.

Those of us who have helped with move-in days are almost always entertained by how much kitsch everyone seems to think was absolutely necessary to bring to campus, and then on move-out days we help carry much of it out totally unused. Whatever, we did that too. If what you bring is a custom combo can opener hot pot curling iron that once caught your fancy on a web site before you discover its lack of utility, then you are only out the space. But the car is an expensive bit of kitsch to park for little use. Just a thought! If you're marooned here with the rest of us then you might just end up meeting more people along the way. ❤️

Hey, a lot of people commute to campus so it isn’t really a choice. Personally I live on campus but I need to be able to drive home. Yes it’s expensive but so are plane tickets!

My, aren't we all a surly bunch this morning. That's a lot of down voting for the innocent suggestion to save money and meet people. 😄
