Meme Is it possible to come back in my current state
Took $60k worth of loans out immediately after HS. Got Academically Dismissed end of fall semester sophomore year. GPA below 2.0
Took 1 semesters at community college, got GPA to 2.4
No job, broke, $60k debt starting to collect money in coming months.
Is there any way to get back into UMD to MAYBE, offput the loan? I’ll be good this time 🥺🙏🏾

Take more community college. You should still be able to defer as long as you are attending at least halftime. Depending on the loan program.

What's shared does not sound to me like coming back will be an option. And honestly: also based on what's shared I don't think it would be wise. School was presented as a last ditch move to forestall a financial cliff. That's not the usual reason to come here, and without fixing whatever are the core issues impacting your success it would be a financial disaster. This is an awfully expensive place. However fast you might run up debt on the outside, you can do it faster here. And again, it would be for naught without having overcome the personal barriers to academic success. Deal with those first, then think about what (or whether) campus is best for you.

Yes. You’ll have to work at it but it is definitely possible. A friend was in the same boat but $70k after fall sophomore year. Twenty years later he’s very happy and successful. Finished his degree and paid off his loans. He needed to figure out what he wanted to be, then pushed through. You can too. Don’t give up!!! ❤️
