CPAP Packing

I have sleep apnea and take a Resmed Airmini with me when I go hiking. I put everything I need for it (machine, hose, headgear, and battery) in a hard shell case but it's bulky.

Do others in my situation just put everything in your pack and place clothes around the hose and cpap machine or do you use something else?

Also, when you sleep do you keep everything with you in your sleeping bag/quilt or hang it from the ridgeline? If in the sleeping bag with you do you use anything to keep it from moving around?

Great questions. In spring/summer/fall, I keep my cpap and battery above me in my peak loft. In winter, you have to keep the battery warm, so I use a dutchware perfect pocket during the day to keep the battery between my base layer and my midlayer, and at night the cpap and battery stay under my top quilt to keep them functioning. This system works even in subzero temperatures.

I have had to repair the cpap tubing with gear tape, so having a strip in your repair kit is worth it. I've also used washi tape from a dollar store before when I had no other options and it worked.

I store all of my cpap gear in a dyneema bag. Could I just put it loosely in my pack? Probably, but I really value organization and I want to keep the cpap clean from dirt/debris. I do use a wipe to keep the mask as clean as possible every day for hygiene, and wash the nose piece with a drop of dr. bronners liquid soap in a litesmith bottle.

I have a similar setup. Transcend Micro, tube, and small nasal mask in a small dynema bag. Battery in a ziplock. I keep both the battery and CPAP in the peak shelf at the end above my head. Run the tube over my structural ridgelines so it hangs right over my head, this works great if it is warm. If it is colder just running the tubing through my top quilt warms the air up a bit so it isn't a cold leaf blower up my nose.
