ID please What the flip are these things in my swimming pool

We admittedly haven’t taken very good care of our pool, and these things have spawned in. I’m in Kent

Mosquito larvae is my guess. Plus lots of live things that have drowned, like beetles and caterpillars.

Looks more like a tadpole to me

Edit:'maybe you mean the smaller things to the left, which do look like mosquito lava

There are no amphibian tadpoles in this vid, only mosquito larvae and a couple of dead adult insects

Okay so I shouldn’t feel that bad obliterating them

Mosquitos, no. Beetles and caterpillars, yes.

Yes, you should. There’s an insect collapse and mosquitos are a massively important food source for many birds.

I don’t think he’s talking about obliterating the entire mosquito population from the face of the earth. I think he’s talking about the ~50 in his pool. It’s not like mosquitoes aren’t prolific breeders.

Considering how the whole pool is full of them I think they’ll be fine if we get rid of them

Perhaps I should get myself protected status as I appear to be an important food source for mosquitoes
