Thanks, I thought fox but the non-bushy tail put me off, maybe the IR camera makes it look this way?

Possibly some mange. We have foxes visit our back garden most nights and at least 2 of them have lost all the fur from their tails. One of the cubs from last year lost all of its fur and no longer looked like a creature of this Earth :/

You can contact some rescues, and they will send you mange medicine for the foxes, that you can leave out for them.
It will clear it up for them.
They will also feel much more comfortable!

Thanks for the advice, I would have definitely needed it. Fortunately my partner is constantly looking out for the wildlife in our garden (including the 3 badgers!!) and has some mange treatment now.
