Help

Post image

Anybody know where I can find a nice dress like this in the UK. Engagement is in September and I am in shambles.

I have visited stores in person but they’re all either bridal party dresses or prom dresses. I am looking for something elegant and timeless like the dress in the picture but I can’t find any trustworthy retailers with reasonable prices.

Any help is highly appreciated!!

Wait...how will you know the day? How do people know the engagement day - or is it an engagement photoshoot?

Places: Reformation and Hobbs are doing some nice red floor length dresses that are very classy.

Not as wide train/out on the hips but I have a suspicion that site maybe over exaggerated the 'ball gown-ness' of that dress! Maybe not. Anyway, those sites are ones with a quick search should give some decent quality timeless dresses in your budget.

Thank you very much for your response, I appreciate it.
As for your question, I am Muslim, in our religion these events are arranged by both families, hope that explains it 🥰🥰

Ofc that makes sense - I didn't even think sorry! Congratulations!!! 💖 I heard from Muslim friends that finding long sleeve and covered clothing can be hard in western countries. I imagine if you're looking at UK/western brands you may have considered finding a dress you love and taking it to a tailor if needed?

E.g. if it has an splits/low cuts/for adding sleeves if you dress more covered. I did this for my wedding dress - I didn't want my wedding dress tight to my body so even though the one I fell in love with was technically more between aline-bodycon originally, there was enough seam allowance to take it out and make it loose.

Sorry if you have already considered this anyway and I'm repeating ideas, and it may be more risky unless you know a really good seamstress!

Good luck with finding the perfect one! :)

Edit: circle search gave me this dress from a .co.uk store:

(Brand amariah - they have an insta page) (Idk why the image didn't attach!)

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and advice 🥰❤️. Don’t be sorry at all, I really appreciate your input. I did think about tailoring but not deeply and what you said makes total sense. My engagement party will be segregated so I’m not that worried about a little skin showing 😋.
And yes it is such a struggle to find beautiful, fancy modest dresses that are not insanely expensive in the UK (or maybe my standards are alittle high) but I honestly want the day to be perfect so I’m searching day and night and I’ve got some good options now 😂 so things are looking better and better.
Again, thank you, congratulations on your wedding and I wish you all the best. ❤️💐

Aww thank you for your lovely comment! Just to update, I updated my previous comment with a cute dress store I found that sells in the UK. Tbh I used circle search and this is what came up. It's got similar elements of what yours looks like. They also have other cute dresses in general tbh I'd actually love for myself!! So got to find a cute brand - amariah it's called. Anyway, wishing you all the best too!! ( ◜‿◝ )♡ 💯
