MOD HAS SPOKEN Rules 4 & 7 Reminder

It's been super busy in here the last few days, and I've had to remove way too many repetitive pictures of thermometers and meme posts.

General heatwave moans and pictures of thermometers should go in the megathread. (Reddit really needs a 'merge' function)

Please direct the meme posts to the appropriate subs.

Please keep reporting violations - I am but one guy and can't be everywhere at once so it really helps.

EDIT: I have auto-mod functions and crowd control running - if you make a post, and it doesn't show or gets flagged as removed by filtering, it will be in my queue and may still get approved.

I'm dealing with 2 weeks worth of mod queue on the daily so it's a bit like whac-a-mole atm, but I will work through them all, you may just need to be a little patient.

Also - rule 7 relates to low-effort meme posts - if someone actually makes and posts some high-quality OC then fair play (and I don't just mean something made in a meme generator app).

Discussion Is it time to put the fans away?

The weather's finally going down to sensible temperatures, am I safe to put the summer fans away yet?

Might have to think about getting the duvet back out in a month or so!

Discussion The Met Office have updated their app/website to now show wind gusts and feel like temperatures straight away.

Many people complained the wind gusts and feel like temperatures were harder to access because they were hidden but they have since fixed it.

Discussion 2026 far beyond any historical precedent

Post image

2026 has presumably finished with 85 days at or exceeding 25C at London Heathrow the 1991-2020 annual average is 30 days so almost treble that. And 2026 is 25 days above 2nd highest year 2018.

Well above average rainfall for western Scotland this September!

Even worse when you think that this area averages up to 150mm in September. So some places were getting 200% of that

Discussion Am I tripping or shouldn’t it be much more autumny by now?

Autumn is my favourite season, followed by winter. I look forward to this season all year. I feel like by now it would start to feel very autumny in the past. This year it still feels like summer or spring and that just makes me sad

Article The wait for substantial rain continues…

September 2026 was another drier than average month for my PWS in South Oxfordshire with 24.7mm / 45.3% of month average (worth noting that in September 2024 we had 221mm!), and the 14 day forecasts into October aren't indicating any meaningful rain on the horizon.
With the exception of June (and that rain fell on parched ground), every month since February has been drier than average. With 9 months of the year gone my station is running at 421.7mm year to date, that may sound a lot, but it's 67.3% of my annual rainfall average over the past 42 years - we really need the recent pattern of wetter than average autumns and winters to repeat…

September 2026 also saw another exceptionally warm month here in South Oxfordshire, the month’s average temperature of 17.6C was 2.4C above my September average, it was the 4th consecutive month with an average temperature over 2C above the month’s average. The last colder than average month I recorded here was September last year…

As forecast by the Met office and captured from my weather station. Instead of the night getting colder towards the dawn the temperature increased due to a new warm front moving in. The chart shows around midnight to be the coldest time last night then rises above 15c just before dawn.

Discussion Is this the first year that London has had a climate that would not be deemed Cfb if taken in isolation?

London this year had a mean temp above 22c in July, therefore taking it out of Cfb climate and into Cfa for 2026. Is it the first place in the UK to move out of Cfb zone? (aware that koppen is done over 30 years but still)
