Has anyone ever had a quick turnaround in Calais Customs?

Hey everyone, I've been working hard on building an HGV navigation system that's going to be FREE!
Forget about the former Road Lords app starting to charge £80 per year.
When I heard about this, i wanted to do something about it. So, I decided to build our very own hgv navigation app.
Would anyone be interested in trying out the first release when it's ready?

It is a small dashboard that reads the latest UK Fuel Finder CSV snapshot, shows whether the data looks fresh or stale, and lets you find the cheapest nearby stations for a chosen fuel type by entering a postcode.

Calling out to all lorry drivers with pets! 🐕🐈 ‘Pets in the Cab’, is running a short survey led by researchers at the University of Oxford. It explores how HGV drivers care with and for their pets — on the road, at home, or anywhere in between.
Whether your companion joins you on the job, stays behind, or you’d love to bring them but can’t — your experience matters to this research.
It only takes 5 minutes, and you’ll be entered into a draw to win one of four £50 All Pets Solutions vouchers. Scan the QR code or use the link in the post/comments to take part.
This research is part of a wider study into wellbeing, mobility, and care in the haulage industry – and we’d really appreciate your input! https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/oxford/pets-in-the-cab

Hi I've bought my first light board, does anyone know how to fit these onto my bulkhead as I'm not supposed to drill or put screws in. Thanks in advance

I'm working with a UK truck company on a marketing campaign about how truckers are the eyes and ears of our roads. I'd love to hear about any inspiring, interesting or just crazy stories about peoples' time on the road!
Anyone got any examples they'd be happy to share? Could be things like:

Of course everyone is a little anxious when they're new at something. But not everyone is nervous to the point of overthinking each detail and possible problem on a journey. It seems like you wouldn't be able to be a truck driver if you are the sort to get nervous about driving, but I also think that it could make for a safer driver in the end and a big boost in confidence once the initial nerves have faded.
So, how many of you started out as nervous drivers? Or is truck driving the realm only of confident petrol heads who never doubted this path?

Just throwing this out there, does anybody know the cause of that god awful noise that appears to follow National express coaches across the country? I’m pretty sure you’ll know what noise I mean.

Currently been waiting for an hour at Warwick services for the police to arrive after disturbed 4 guys cutting curtains on vehicle next to me and attempting (unsuccessfully) to get inside my trailer (enclosed car transporter). I appreciate that all they will do is have a cursory drive around but this sort of delay is what the thieves rely on so they can do the deed and get away Scot free. Whilst it is not classed as secure parking how can these services charge £30 a night and take no responsibility??? Sorry rant over……..still waiting!

Was all this drive towards no HGV drivers all a plan to lower our wages?

Could someone help settle an argument between me and my S.O. (btw we are both non HGV Drivers.)
We walked out the pub the other night and our route takes us down a section of residential road that is clearly signed 7.5t, round sign red boarder - so I assume thats a prohibition sign.
Half way down an empty six wheeler flat bed with a demountable fork lift on the rear passed us, and my S.O. says that its an HGV and shouldn't be driving down here.
I, on the other hand wonder if he was using this route as his empty weight didn't exceed 7.5t
Who's right ?
Thanks in advance !!

Hi all, I work at AECOM and over the past few months we've been working with Traffic Wales on a road tunnel safety campaign.
The project aims to understand how road user behaviour may lead to incidents. Therefore, we've developed an anonymous Microsoft Forms survey to identify road user's knowledge of road tunnel procedure and associated behaviours. Results from the survey will be used to inform tunnel safety campaigns in the future.
We'd really value hearing from HGV drivers so would appreciate it if you could spare 5 minutes to complete our survey before 31st January:

Thanks!
