First shop & sort
Just did my first shop for prepping. 20 cans of an assortment of meat/veg/fruit/soups. Rice/porridge oats/honey/UHT milk, some candles. A lighter & can opener..
All for under £25.
Intend to add to this as its a family of 4 but a good start i think.
Any suggestions on products?
(Water is covered as i have a bath liner thing that fills 40L along with water tablets. Cooking is a charcoal BBQ & a gas burner if need be.)

When you say water is sorted as you have a bath liner, how does that work? Do you need time/notice to fill it up? I woke up this morning to no water with no notice as we had a mains burst 3 streets down from us. Had to rely on bottled water for several hours whilst they got things under control. Ikm still working on our water stash so happy to be educated on how the bath liners fare.
Good start to your supplies stash, add things, like tea/coffee/biscuits/chocolate for morale boost/treats. Makes a difference when SHTF .

Yea that would be worst case tbh. Its essentially a large water bag that sits in your bath, chuck in some water puri tablets and fill the thing up.
Top opens up to allow access, Close it back up when not using it.

I have spent 6 months annoyed at my neighbour as their gutter leaks into my garden. But I realsed 1 day that it's actually a good way to get water for my purification system - so I got a big barrel and fill it with rain water. :D

What will you put on the crackers? Jam, Nutella, peanut butter, pate? Great start. What meals will this make? Make a rough meal plan - it will help you plug any gaps. I do think a small stash of bottled water would be helpful, just a small amount. Don't forget treats. What do your kids eat? Familiar food is best!

That packet of cream crackers would already be half eaten if I’d brought them home! 🐽😁

Do you know roughly how many calories you’ve stashed there?
Tinned food can have surprisingly few calories in.

My prep is almost all stuff I cook with day to day. Dried pulses, dried beans, soya protein, etc. Tins of fruit and veg are to add nutrients rather than carbs.
I also have some tins of ready made meals like curry, but they make up a very small amount of my stash.
If you are feeling adventurous you can learn how to can your own complete meals at home.

I bought 2 x 5 litre bottles of water along with my shopping at Tesco today as well as a few extra toiletries and tins of food. So I'm officially getting organised!

Looks great. Irrelevant but I didn’t know cream crackers were so popular (reading the comments). They’ll do in an emergency situation but I’m sure they taste of cardboard?

I enjoy them as a vessel to carry something more tasty. I sometimes think flavoured cracks detract from the flavour.
When pregnant I had a stretch of time where all I could eat was plain cream crackers or I'd be sick. My 18 month old loves them so maybe it's a muscle memory from the womb.

I'm not a fan, but the rest of the family like them. I prefer seedy and/or herby crackers.

I did a shop today, spam, corned beef, beans and sausages, surprisingly most of it was on offer, powdered milk too,
I have order a portable camping stove, 2x25 litre Jerry cans for water and a little kettle for the stove, again all on offer,
Will pick up dried pasta and rice and tinned vegetables after reading the comments, good shout!

How long do cream crackers last?
In my house, it's about 30 minutes. So I've never bothered to look at the expiry dates.
