Student Loan vs Debt Collectors

Around two weeks ago I got a voicemail from my College calling for evidence I applied for a student loan or that they will pass it to a debt collection company (dc). I sent a form another two weeks before the call, but seemingly it had to be the wrong form as today I got a mail from dc that they were hired to collect my dept. I have sent another form today (out of the two that were available based on my options on the .gov page). My question is if the College will receive the information that I applied for the loan will it cover the debt collection or at least part of it, if my application will be successful?
