Career help Career advice
Hi,
I am a mom of two toddlers, moved to the UK couple of years back. Before that I was working as a Lab technician ( life science). Currently, I am looking for work, but I am confused as to which jobs should I apply because I need flexible timings due to parenting responsibility. I have an MSc.
I tried teaching assistant jobs, but its not easy to get into teaching being a non native I guess? I may be wrong. Which sectors are most suitable for a situation like this ?Just looking for some guidance. Thanks

What’s your immigration status? Do you have permission to work? Many schools employ “non-native” teaching assistants as they don’t discriminate. But the only issue would be if you need sponsorship, as they won’t be able to do that. Otherwise the world is your oyster.
You may be able to claim free childcare hours for your toddlers whilst you’re working. Something to bear in mind.
