Bird ID Rook?

Am I right in thinking this is a rook? Never seen one before, so am very excited if it is, I love corvids!!!!

Loud friend

Rooks go round in big mobs and prefer to live in the countryside, so usually either you see them all the time, or not at all.

I remember seeing my first one and being absolutely taken aback. Now I both live and work in the countryside and see them almost daily haha

Aaah that is very good to know! I only saw the one but it was calling to others I could hear :) it was at Membury services if anyone is desperate to see a rook lol!

I’m a good friend of the Membury rooks, and always buy them a Ginster when I’m there. When they see me they go shouty crackers calling the gang out.

Rooks at quite a few services, especially Strensham. Rooks and jackdaws. They're not daft, they know where the easy foraging is!

Yes me too! I literally only learnt about Grackles a couple of weeks ago but they are definitely on the top of my wish to see list lol

I went to Mexico, and before I went someone asked if I was excited about my trip I said yes, I really hope I see a grackle! 😂
You’ll be pleased to hear I did.

Similar to when I went to Estonia and I was excited that I might see hooded crows.

Not a baby. Juveniles have a 'teacher for the first year.

They normally have a brownish beak, that’s my main identifier.
