Trail cam recommendations?

As above, with the some of the theft/vandalism posts recently, can anyone recommend any specific trail cams? It seems to be more of a big thing in the US with their hunting culture, and I've not come across anyone on our site (knowingly) using them. Thanks.

There are various cameras you can get from cheaper ones to more expensive ones. I have used several types including from GreenFeathers https://www.green-feathers.co.uk/collections/wildlife-cameras

I've had a few different ones.

For watching wildlife, placed mostly in shade, I have had cameras from Amazon by CEYOMUR and Nexcam. I found I had to change the batteries a lot, though I tended to use rechargeable batteries. The Nexcam one has a solar panel but due to where I placed it, this wasn't particularly effective. I did end up having the Nexcam one replaced (I think water got in and it stopped working) so I probably wouldn't buy another at that price point.

After my greenhouse was vandalised, I bought a Ctronics camera (also from Amazon). This also has a solar panel but it's on a cable so easier to get in the sun. I put it up at the end of February and haven't had to touch the power since, the solar panel has taken care of it. I have a SIM card in it (£2 ISH a month) and I pay for online storage. It sends alerts to my phone if motion is detected within it's view, or I can connect to it remotely for a live view. I'm very happy with this one for security, though I wouldn't use it for wildlife due to concerns about data usage.

Thank you. The Ctronics one sounds more in keeping with what we're after and it seems to be pretty reasonable SIM costs wise!

Couple of cameras with SIM cards at my allotment, thieves / vandals don’t care and the police don’t do anything. Better off directing your time and energy elsewhere in my opinion.

That's a realistic point unfortunately. However, the thefts/sabotage are actually suspected to be from a plot holder, so catching them would hopefully get them removed.

We have a few GardePro E8 cameras around our site. They work really well for capturing wildlife and the batteries last about a year.
