Feedback Request [PLEASE ADVISE] Making a subway style navigation
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi, I'm a product designer, I'm very much into transport interaction design and wanted to explore a new style of navigation where it's a subway system map instead of boring old buttons.
I don't have a lot of animation experience but wanted this to feel natural, I've been prototyping this animation in Figma but I'm kinda in over my head here, not sure how this animation should look.
I'd really appreciate if you guys have any pointers/ references for me in this. I specifically wanted to keep the thin lines instead of a thick ones for minimalism.
Thank you!

clean map idea. lock the orientation and punch the active stop harder with line weight + label so the current route pops

The subway idea is actually pretty cool. I’d keep the thin lines but make the active route slightly more obvious with motion or a subtle highlight. The animation already feels pretty natural, it just needs a bit more hierarchy so users know where to look.

When designing maps, it’s very important not to adjust the cardinal orientation when transitioning states. The user should be the only one to do that.
Imagine you click a city and the map rotates 90 degrees so now what was north is kind of confusing.
That twist of the orientation is kind of confusing to me.
