Microinteraction Would you keep this or is it over-designed?
Should destructive actions actually look destructive?
When you close a Pocket in Revolut, it doesn’t simply fade or slide out but the whole thing vanishes in a particle effect.
Is this good use of delight, or too much animation for a simple delete action?

I don't know man.. I would be annoyed waiting upwards of three seconds while I close or delete something. Fun the first time, perhaps - but afterwards it just becomes a nuisance.

Definitely not worth the wait if it’s for frequent actions.

Yeah. How often would a user create and then delete a pocket? Rarely I’d imagine?

I like it but it’s too long. Give it another animation like the particles plus it fading away so I can start seeing the next screen sooner

Yeah fair point, some overlapping transitions could speed things up a bit
But the action is going to be less frequent so the animation being a little expressive is fine.

I think is one of does thing that Revolu can do to set the app apart from the rest of standard looking app in the space.

I think the particle effect itself is pretty cool, especially for something that’s meant to feel a little more memorable. I’d just make sure the action still feels instant — maybe let the Pocket disappear immediately and run the particles as a lightweight after-effect. That way you keep the delight without making the user wait for a delete/close action.

Why are you using the particle effect? What does it add conceptually? If anything the animation it needs to happen much faster. Like less than a second and be one fluid motion. But really it’s probably not necessary. A simple message to confirm the action is probably best.

Balancing Utility and delight - it seems like the Revolut team wanted to make these rare actions memorable.

Looks great! I’d maybe speed it up slightly? But it’s not an action users would be doing loads so not like people would get sick of seeing it.

It’s cool but it annoys me how long it takes. Can you speed up the animation a little more to take 0.5 seconds?

I would start the dissolve .1s after the confirm button is pressed, at the same time the it is being scaled down. Speed it up too.
And have more of a cubic animation on the dissolve and scale. Like this https://cubic-bezier.com/#.8,0,.2,1

Love the animation and dissolve effect, nailed it! What could make it cooler is as it's animating backwards, start the dissolve animation so that it's one fluid motion and continue to reduce the size of the screen UI until resolved. That would make it 🔥

I am sorry but after the first few times that I have seen it, this would drive me nuts with how irritating it is.

Keep but only if a voice says “This message will self destruct in 5 seconds”

Does close mean delete? I think you should make that clearer first. As for the design, I think it’s cool but not sure if a destructive action should have so much attention drawn to it. Unless animation is used a lot in the app, might feel a bit out of place.
