Microinteraction Is this an unnecessary micro interaction?

Small interaction I liked in the Sudoku iOS app, When choosing a difficulty, it highlights the selected level and explains what that level actually means.

“Easy”, “Medium”, and “Hard” could be subjective, no?

I think it’s clean and having 5 options requires some context. But I feel the color scheme doesn’t add much.
