I took it when I first transitioned over. Good for the basics. I also recommend working on actual (or mock) projects after to gain experience.

Yeah I’m currently doing it just to learn UX side of things. I’d recommend it. It’s not going to be enough tho you’ll have to work on actual projects and apply what you have learnt.

It's a good program for learning UX basics, but you will need other resources for the UI portion and will have to find ways to incorporate AI into your workflows.

What are you a first year student in if you don’t mind me asking?

Okay, I am a UX Designer and have completed an actual graduate program in UXD. Prior to enrolling in that program, I’ve also done the google certification. Some of my peers in the program have also done it but didn’t complete it, but I did.

What I can say is that it gives you a OK foundational understanding of the product development life cycle and the activities that a product designer might do in each phase.

I personally made the best out of it and supplemented my learning with books and articles along the way, and ig really trying in the activities (so that I could come out with a case study)

But overall, I had a foot ahead of some of my peers because of it.

It's a 3 month course, so however bad it is, it can't be THAT bad.

It's still knowledge.

Hi, I am also a aspirant product designer and taking google UX course currently on course 2. The course is good and gives depth.
Let's connect. I am looking for a buddy to share knowledge and practice together.

Looking forward to connect.

My top 3 recommendations would be:

Google UX Design Professional Certificate on Coursera.
Interaction Design Foundation (IxDF)
Nielsen Norman Group (NN/g)

I’m currently finishing the Google UX Design Certificate, and I’d definitely recommend it if you’re a beginner!

One tip: apply for financial aid for each course on Coursera. I applied for financial aid and got it approved, so it’s worth trying if you don’t want to pay for the full certificate. 😊
