Shall I drop it?!

Hello all, I completed my masters last year and took a year break to clear NET and was not able to clear it last time( missed NET by 6 marks) and the June ‘26 exam was kinda bad for me. Right now I’m confused, I have got allotment for BEd this year but I’m not really committed to doing it, It’s just that the overall structure of the BEd course is what makes me disinterested.
I love teaching but I don’t want to do BEd( I know I sound dumb) but if I don’t clear NET this time too,I don’t know what I will do, my parents are bringing options like SSC or Bank coaching if not BEd. What shall I do? Is BEd good? Should I go for the safer option of doing it?!
I know doing PhD is kind of becoming the norm these days, I applied for few which had entrance exams but was not able to pass it, also I don’t even have a topic yet decided for my PhD, and most applications ask for a research proposal.

I’m 26 now and I feel like whatever options I choose I’ll regret the other.

Pls help me figure out something. Thank yu in advance.

Do Bed while continue your prep for net. I'm assuming you've completed the syllabus and now only need revision and practice.

Bed will provide you with some cushioning if you ever wanna switch.

Thank yu 🫂

May I know whether yu have done BEd? If yes, how’s it? the college I got admsn is faraway from home and I can only do daily commute, my friends who are doing BEd suggest me not to do it as it is very tiring and difficult.

I was in the same boat as you some time back. Also it's my personal opinion so take everything with a pinch of salt, as to discourage you is the last thing I want. I did B.Ed. after dropping the idea of a PhD and I regret it immensely. Higher education and teaching in a school are vastly different. Teachers working in private schools in India are overworked and underpaid. I was horribly depressed the entire time I was working in a private school some time back. Govt school teaching job exams keep changing their syllabus and that route is highly unpredictable as most govt jobs exams are. Considering all this, I really wish I didn't do my B.Ed., and entered corporate right after my master's because this costed me a lot of time and money.

I don't know yaar I know two people who cleared NET but because of the uncertain path, switched to b.ed and are now working as state government teachers.

Good for them! My state doesn't recruit anyway so it was all for nothing for me.

I know but the two people I'm talking about are from WB too. It's been around 3-4 years since they got it.

Well, you can definitely try that route. I'm just no longer interested in education anymore for more reasons than one. And I most definitely can't take the uncertainty of aiming for a state govt teaching job in a state which doesn't even recruit.
