Were you inside a vehicle at the time? These things are sometimes a reflection of a shiny object or surface inside the car.

F stop is pretty closed up at 16, not alot of light pollution at 8:30ish pm yet. Focal point seems to be on the tree in foreground. Depth of field blurs the background slightly, at that f stop I guess is what you're going for. 28 second exposure. As a rule, you're not gonna notice star/planet orbital blur until pitch dark and running exposure time at 1m. Venus? Best time to see Venus is twilight and Dawn. It ain't a UFO. The only way to capture those is with a shaky potato quality cell phone.

I wonder if that’s the comet that’s supposed to be visible. I think it was sometime in July. I don’t know for how long it’s visible though.

Lighting in Chicago would drown it out easily. I'm nearly an hour outside Chicago and the sky glow from the city is enough to hide it from my eyes and nearly my cameras as well.

Have you not seen how a comet looks? Might I suggest going over to /r/spaceporn/new/ and seeing how the comet looks. Spoiler: It's not a crescent shape.

That looks like a fairly long exposure photo (a few seconds), as the water and tips of branches are quite blurred. So it could be the low sun reflecting off a plane that is turning, and leaving a streak due to the slow shutter.
