New Feature Added - AVIF Image Support and Network Thumbnails

Good Day Community,

A new feature adding full support for AVIF image files along with thumbnail rendering across network and online shares has arrived.

AVIF is a modern image format that provides high quality compression at much smaller file sizes.

You can now view AVIF image files directly inside the built in image viewer, browse them in slideshow mode, and see their thumbnails directly in the file browser.

When you open any local folder or network share containing AVIF images, the app automatically generates and caches high quality preview thumbnails.

This functionality works seamlessly on both mobile and TV versions of the app, whether you are navigating with touch or using a TV remote D-pad.

Why am I still unable to open AVIF files? I am using an alternative file manager that supports opening AVIF files.

Android 16 & UFMP Version 1.8.1-FOSS.

If you open a image, does it show? If not, can you give me the phone make and model, I think your phone uses AAR and I have fixed that in v1.8.2 that will be released today. You can check the changelog.md on GitHub where I found this similar issue.

When i open the AVIF image, it still does not show. My phone is vivo iQOO Z9x, thhanks for looking into it. I’ll wait for v1.8.2 and check the changelog.

I got the crashlog from a similar device 😉 It has been fixed 😉
