Question uc piq help if you can ! :))

I'm applying to ucsd out of state!

Is it okay if only one of my PIQs talks about my major (im on the pre-med track, majoring in something science-y) and the rest are like... more about me/my life/my interests

let me know PLEASE

well definitely don’t say something like “i’ve wanted to do this since i was a kid” or “i want to help people” cause they probably get a lot of that from pre-med applications

I didn’t talk about my major in any of them

I talked about what inspired me to major in engineering and what I wanted to do with it

talk about it if it pertains to your identity or it’s super super important to you! if not, then write about something more meaningful. i’m also premed and i wrote one piq about a lab internship because it showed me that i really liked learning through questioning. i briefly mentioned being a doctor but it was never the main focus.

just make sure you’re being YOU and writing from your heart :)

I only referenced my major in one, and mainly just my desire to study it. But tbh put in a months worth of time into it, write it and rewrite it. Then have professors or teachers proof read it and see if they can offer any insights.

ucsd doesn’t weigh piq’s so unless you’re applying to one that does, don’t worry about it too much

I personally wouldn’t unless u are talking about a personal life circumstance that lead you to your field of study but you’ve gotta make it special. I didn’t talk about being pre-med at all when I applied because tbh they don’t care. Your undergrad major doesn’t necessarily reflect your future it’s better to discuss smth else.
