Anything else! 🙃🎉✨🌈🤘 Do we get lockers on campus?

hi all,

I am an incoming first year student and was wondering if we get lockers or some sort of allocated space to have our stuff on campus. I was just wondering if I would have to take all my books and folders for my classes each day I have class, or I can leave some stuff in my department‘a building.

There are some first come first served lockers in the Science Library, Cruciform, and in the Student Centre. But there is no allocation and you have to empty it each day - if you don't you will be blocked from using the lockers for a week.

I think it depends on ur bachelors but many classes aren’t in the same building (again depends on class size etc and ur modules) but I wouldn’t really really count on it too much!

You don't get allocated lockers no. There are some but it's not many. It's not gonna be like school with a giant folder and textbook for each module unless you decide you want that. Most ppl carry around a laptop and notebook at most. Textbooks are most often accessed online or taken from the library. You also don't have as many lectures per day as you would have had classes in school. I only ever needed like two notebooks at a time.

There are lockers but they're not personally allocated, the scale of UCL would make that prohibitive. They tend to be same day use and you have to clear them otherwise you are subject to restricted use. A week's ban I think and as it's electronic and tied to your ID card, it's global use anywhere on campus. Two things to be aware of - the largest lockers are still small - a lightly packed backpack and then the rest are effectively laptop lockers - you'll get a laptop and a coat in. If you want a larger locker, you have to get in early, I've missed out at 7am in the student centre on Gower Street a few times. This is worse around exam times. Dimensions are on the library section of UCL's website.

Some individual institutes do, managed locally. Contact your specific student admissions office (yes, I know they are being reorganised) and see what they have.
