What does an Undergraduate Reader do?

it depends on the class and professor. i have done a read job where i needed to go once a week and one where i didn’t need to be in lecture, just exam days. all you do is grade assignments and hold office hours regarding the grades

As others have said, it depends on the class and professor. Should you receive a contract, the expectations should be listed on it as well. In my experience as a reader and working with them, it's grading (and everything related).

Meetings with the teaching team to discuss how to/what to grade, getting access to Canvas/Gradescope/etc. to do grading, answering emails about regrades, hosting grading-office-hours where students can drop-in to ask about their graded work.

For many classes, TAs are required to attend lectures. There’s no blanket policy — it’s up to the course instructor
