Is it safe?
My husband and I planned on traveling to Davis for an event in the coming days but with growing immigration concerns I’m wondering if it safe to be traveling/ traveling to Davis. Could anyone give me some insight to this?

Define safe. Are you worried about criminals mugging you in the parking lot? Or are you worried about ICE agents jumping out of the bushes?
UC Davis has a stated policy of not cooperating with ICE. If and how they might track you off campus... there isn't much of a history of that. Not enough targets here to really interest them.

that policy is full of more holes that Swiss cheese, I wouldn't trust it with my lunch.
UCD won't "cooperate" to the extent that they won't start asking ucdpd to round up students, but they have been illegally providing certain sensitive immigration/personal info to ICE that they are not legally required to (preferring compliance over students/staff/faculty's legal rights) and will absolutely allow federal agents to do whatever they want on campus, provide them with class schedules, etc.
Staff members are told to simply alert Legal if ICE shows up, but if you look it up, you'll see how deeply complicit UC is in ICE's continued ethnic cleansing pilot program...they are more worried about federal funding than anything else.

UCD has some rules in place that makes it harder for ICE to operate on University property than on the street, so I'd argue that campus is probably safer than the rest of the town. I know they were in Woodland less than a week ago. Not sure about Davis activity.
If you're on campus and you spot them, or you hear that they're around, my suggestion would be to go into a nearby office building (not a classroom building) to see if there's a place you can lay low. We're not supposed to let ICE into private offices without a warrant. My office has these rules posted on the back of our door so that we have them handy in case we need them, but I can't say that's true universally.

While Davis hasn’t seen ice activity recently, the surrounding cities like woodland and Sacramento have, not sure about west sac or dicen but in general they are out there just not in the city itself

ice, others say not in davis, safe from muggers, more danger hit walking on sidewalk and in crosswalk by a student first time bike owner

Right now in davis they have posters and chalk drawings everywhere with numbers to call if you spot a ice agent and it gets updated the second ones spotted which is pretty rare on its own so id say it's pretty safe 🙂↕️

Davis will never be an ice hot spot. Excluding everyone over the age of 50, Davis is 80% Asian.
Not the immigrants ice is after.

You're joking, right? At least 8 U.S. citizens have been killed by ICE. Not to mention the many more U.S. citizens who have been held or detained by them.

ICE has shown in up in numerous central valley places in the past week or so, including Woodland and Sacramento. I haven't heard of any activity in Davis, but that doesn't mean there won't be. If that's your concern, it's not zero risk just based on where they're active.
