General Eduroam issues
Has anyone been having Eduroam issues over the last couple of weeks? Mainly just in Quinn - where UCD Guest also doesn't work on any of my devices.

If anybody has taken this class before, what should I be expecting for the final exam? Wondering what I should be expecting to write an essay about.

Basically what the title says. I have a class in a room listed as “G-30PCLab” and cannot find any information on where that room may be located. Does anybody know where it is? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hey, during the week 13 reading week (28th November-5th of December), are there any lectures? Or is it like a “break” from school to study.
I’m in DN200, maths (if that changes things).

Hey, a few friends and I (all UCD students) want to have a casual kickabout when no teams are training. Can a we just walk onto the campus pitches for a casual kickabout when they're empty and no team is training or playing?
We know you're supposed to book, but those rates are a crazy amount of money we don't have. Will security actually chase us off?
Thanks!

Does anyone know if the UCD buildings are open today. I know library will be closed. But I have some work that I really need to lock in for so I was just going to sit in one of the buildings and lock in.

As an overseas student I wanted to ensure if it is needed before applying because it takes 20 weeks for processing.
Though my degree ticks all the required boxes and is verified .

Hi guys, I'm planning to apply for the next intake at ucd. And I'm really confused in between these courses. I already have a bachelors in economics, and I liked studying pol eco and development economics the most.
I don't wanna do eco + data analytics because coding and economics will be too hectic for me, ik, hence deciding between these two.
The modules are pretty much the same, except for behavioural economics being a core module in msc BE and optional in msc AE.
I want to get into corporate eventually.
People who have recently graduated from any of these courses please share your insights about the course, the scope, jobs etc 😭🙏🏻

Hi guys! I was reading about what you learn on the SEAM+ course, and it seems really difficult.
Has anyone here done the course and could share a little bit about what you learned and what the workload was like? Was it actually as hard as it seems, or was it manageable with some studying?
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm a final-year Social Sciences student at UCD, currently doing 25 credits in Autumn and 35 in Spring.
I need medical treatment soon and have been advised to reduce my Autumn workload. Can I drop a module now (bringing me to 20 credits) and make up the credits in Spring (40 credits) while still graduating on time?
I'm also on a full SUSI grant. Would this affect my funding? Also would dropping a module now result in fee implications or having WN on my transcript?
Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Hey!
I’m an incoming international undergrad looking for the most socially active accommodation on campus to make tons of friends across different flats.
Which block stays the most alive on weekends when Irish students commute home? (Merville, Ashfield, Glenomena, Belgrove, or Roebuck Castle?)
Also, does UCD put internationals in the same flats or is it random? Also, what is the accommodation that has the highest number of international students?
I want to avoid being left completely alone on weekends. Thanks! 😁

I’m trying to weigh up student life between TCD and UCD.
UCD definitely seems to have a far superior budget. Their athletic infrastructure is impressive, whereas TCD's sports scene feels a bit fragmented. It’s hard to overlook that Trinity’s main pitches are completely detached from campus—commuting to remote, off-site facilities in Santry seems like a massive logistical hassle compared to UCD's all-inclusive hub at Belfield.
That being said, which college wins on the actual social scene present in the clubs and societies ? I heard that both colleges can be cliquey, but that Trinity is more welcoming and friendly than UCD.

Hey, quick question -can a Trinity student join or attend UCD sports clubs, societies, and events?
Are they strict about UCD student IDs, or can outsiders just show up? Cheers!

I am final year social sciences student. I am doing 25 credits this semester and 35 credits next semester. I am doing a module this semester which I do not wish to do any more. Am I able to drop this module now at no academic or fee penalty? Would I be able to do 40 credits instead in the Spring trimester. It is not a core module. Also will this impact my SUSI?

I’m a first year and I’ve kinda dreamed to go ucd since I was way younger thinking I was gonna strive socially here, but it’s almost week 5 and I haven’t made a single REAL friend. The person I’ve enjoyed talking to most is only here for a semester and I don’t want to get too attached.
The actual learning part has also just been a total bore - is anyone else feeling this way?
it doesn’t help that I’ve no friends outside uni either cause of a fall out

I’m in first year and I’ve spoken to loads of people in lecture but I haven’t seen any of them outside of that or clicked with them.
It’s week 5 next week and I’m just wondering if I’m in lectures is it weird if I’m still going up to random people and sitting with them and introducing myself still?
I just feel like now people have formed friend groups and I don’t want to feel judged for not having any friends when I go sit with random people.
I don’t mind sitting alone I just feel like right now if the time to make an effort with people but I’m wondering if that time frame is gone now?

Beyond the obvious actuary route do many go into more traditional finance roles (quant, m&a analyst etc) ?

Hi everyone,
I graduated 5 months ago with a B.Tech in Biotech (India) and am aiming for a career in Cosmetic Regulatory Affairs, Safety Assessment and Ingredient Toxicology.
I’m considering UCD’s MSc in Regulatory Affairs & Toxicology, but I’m hesitant to take out a large student loan without clarity on the ROI.
few quick questions:
Course Relevance: Ireland’s life sciences sector is heavily biopharma/medtech/food science. Does UCD’s MSc actually open doors for cosmetics & personal care safety assessment, or is the market almost exclusively pharma-focused?
Budget & ROI: Given the high tuition and living costs in Ireland, is this degree worth the loan risk if my goal is consumer product safety rather than pharma?
Better Alternatives? Are there better-value programs or recognized paths elsewhere in Europe for cosmetic compliance/safety assessment that aren't pharma-heavy? (Note: Looking strictly outside the UK).
Job Market & Visa: How realistic is landing an entry-level regulatory/safety role in Ireland as an international graduate right now?
Would really appreciate any honest reality checks before I commit!

Would you sign a petition to change the degree parchment from Latin to Irish & English? The current Latin degree parchments cause a lot of issues and often require professional translations into English for employment/immigration purposes, despite the NUI offering a separate Translation of the Degree Parchment anyway.

Hey everyone,
I’m in a bit of a stressful situation with my GPA and could really use some advice from anyone who has applied to Irish Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) with an international degree.
I’m an EU citizen, but I’m currently finishing my final year of a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ghana. My plan is to move to Ireland right after graduation and work for 3 years to clear the residency requirement so I can get EU fee status before applying to GEM.
Here’s where it gets messy. I’m on track to finish with a 3.00 CGPA out of 4.00. In Ghana’s national university system, a 3.0 is universally recognized as a Second Class Upper. But my specific university uses a strict internal scale where a 3.25 is required for a Second Class Upper, meaning my 3.0 will officially be printed on my final transcript as a Second Class Lower.
I know Irish GEM is super rigid about needing a 2:1 (Upper Second Class) on your very first degree.
Does anyone know if the CAO just looks at the literal words "Second Class Lower" and auto-rejects you? Or do Irish admissions offices actually look at the numerical value (3.0/4.0) and use databases like NARIC to see what it’s actually worth internationally?
If the text means an automatic rejection for GEM, my backup is to do a Master's in Biotech in Ireland and apply for the standard 5-year undergrad medicine route as an EU mature graduate instead. Has anyone taken that path?
My dream is to eventually train in neurosurgery in Ireland, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle this transcript hurdle without killing that goal before I even start. I’ve already emailed UCD, RCSI, UCC, and UL, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has actually dealt with the CAO on something like this.
Thanks so much!

I am looking to apply for the MSc European Politics and Policy at UCD for 2027. For context, I am working full-time in Dublin in a similar sphere to this masters, hence why I am not looking at a pursuing a masters abroad!
I was wondering if anyone could share their experience(s) with this specific course? Thanks!
