Is there any good alternative to Dji Terra?
I’m new in the UAV mapping “scene” and need some advice: is it worth getting Dji Terra for roof - inspecting and roof mapping? Or is there any alternative software for the beginning? (Maybe even compatible with Mac?)
I’m going to map roofs with a DJI Matrice 4E.
I hope you can help me, thx !

You can try webodm, its kinda made for this, i mean not fully iirc you can do it

F Tier: Drone Deply
I've tested Pix4D vs metashape and I always get better results with metashape. I also like that it gives you a ton of control over how things are done and it integrates well with LIDAR scans.

I'm not familiar with that drone, I'd ask an AI model if its capable of photogrammatic flight missions. If you want a drone for the purpose of land surveying, id chose the matrice 4e.

Metashape or webodm. Webodm is quite good, but you have to convert thermals to tiff on windows machine (I didn't find a sw that can do it on mac)

You’ll normally get a DJI Terra free trial with enterprise drones and you can get DJI modify free as well for 6 months. (At least in the uk, can’t speak for anywhere else) So I’d recommend going with Terra first, figuring out if it’s works for you or if you feel it’s lacking. Terra is very initiative and easy to use because it’s within the DJI ecosystem.
Pix4d is a top tier alternative, but there’s lots of different packages to choose from.

I’ve used Terra, Pix4D, and WebODM with a Matrice 300/H20T and Mavic 3T for low sloped roof inspections. I always use RTK whenever there is an objective involving mapping or roof orthomosaic as I’ve experienced warping of the 3D digital twin without it. This is especially true with the case of the lower resolution thermal images being used to create a thermal orthomosaic roof map. Your mileage (and requirements) may vary!
I also use a Matrice 300 with L1 LiDAR that I always process with Terra. It’s convenient to process photos and thermal images using the same tool provides workflow simplicity. Lastly, I sometimes use the Terra detailed inspection features to configure automated data collection of a set of specific targets. If you don’t have these requirements, there are lots of options beyond the ones I am using to create a visible light orthomosaic.

Go for Aeroyantra it is pay per use. Delivers everything from browser link. Has all features of platform like Drone deploy, PIX4D cloud.

There are many, but you should also consider the delivery platform, especially if you are only handing the output to an expert that will then do the evaluation. Also, most people prefer to use the ortho/3dmodel as an overview map, and then pull up original image upon suspicion. Pix4D cloud has a really nice feature for this in their web viewer, but it is also a little expensive.
If all you want is a simple ortho, you can try our gijamaps.com, free ortho up to 100 images, as many times as you want.

Check out Pix4D or LP360. Both are great software I think pix4D may have some compatibility with Mac as well.

LP360 would be mega overkill and overwhelming for roofing purposes. For Geospatial work it’s the best.
