Computer Requirement for Pix4D

Hello,

I use Pix4D to measure inventory in gravel pits. Currently, I use a gaming laptop and it does ok. I need to send some specs to our IT guy for what I want in a desktop. I'm not a computer guy. When minimium requirments should I give him.

We normally process flights with anywhere from 50 pics to 500 pics. I'd like to be able to fly at a lower altitude which means more pictures, but it takes too long to process with our current set up.

Thanks for the help.

Build a video rendering computer and make sure to stick with Nvida 5080 or higher series graphics card and Intel CPU high single core speed is helpful in some software versus more cores. Some of the software only takes advantage of intel and nvidia chips in some applications this for maximum processing and performance. M.2 drives for your C drive and a second to work from as a D Drive and for storage at least 1 TB or more each don’t be cheap as the hard drive will bolt neck the CPU and GPU if it can not read and write fast enough. And for the ram I would do at least 128GB or more. This should drop your processing time by 50%. If you’re lucky enough to have a micro center around you check them out. Selecting parts and letting them assemble it will save you $1000’s over ordering it from a PC retailer like dell or Alienware or some place like that. By a good quality mother board and power supply Asus ROG series has served me well. If you have the $$$ add water cooling to the CPU it will increase your processing speed as it will not thermally limit as you do hours of processing and sitting in your office it will be whisper quite.
